I am Xiao Hong, a boy with glasses.
One day, I saw my friends, Zhi Qing, Da Wei, and Zi Qian, playing in the fountain.
As they dipped their hands into the water, their bodies gradually shrank until they were the size of newborns.
They were wrapped in pink or blue towels as they fell to the ground.
Their faces looked so funny!
Curious, I decided to follow them.
They walked through the streets and alleys until they reached a church.
I had never seen such a beautiful building before.
I followed them inside and saw an angel with long hair and a kind smile.
She looked at me and said, "Hello, Xiao Hong."
I was surprised and replied, "Hello."
The angel introduced herself as Aria.
She told me that Zi Qian, Da Wei, and Zhi Qing were on a journey back to their homes after being transformed by magic.
I asked her where they came from and what kind of magic existed in this world.
Aria smiled and said, "Let me tell you a story."
She began to tell me about the world of magic and how it was different from our world.
As she spoke, I listened carefully and imagined what she described.
When she finished her story, I asked her if I could see more of this world.
Aria smiled and said, "Of course."
She took me on a tour of the church and showed me many amazing things.
I saw angels flying through the air and people with special powers.
The Mysterious Case of The Turning Fountain
I stand at the edge of the fountain, my heart pounding in my chest.
The afternoon sun catches on the rippling water, creating tiny rainbows that dance in the air.
Suddenly, my body was enveloped by a mysterious force. With a sharp pang of pain, I began to shrink, transforming alongside my friends into an infantile, diminutive form.
I remove my glasses and place them carefully on the stone rim of the fountain.
The water looks clearer now, almost glowing.
The Mysterious Case of The Turning Fountain
My hand trembles as I extend it toward the surface.
Aria calls out a gentle warning from behind me, but I barely hear her.
My fingertips hover just inches above the water.
The surface tension breaks as my skin makes contact with the cool liquid.
My fingers touch the water, sending tingles up my arm.
The world starts spinning as my clothes feel looser.
Aria rushes forward, her wings spread wide in concern, but she stops just short of grabbing me.
The fountain's edge seems to grow taller as I shrink.
My glasses slide off my nose and clatter on the ground.
My school uniform drapes around me like a tent, and I feel myself falling backward.
Aria's quick movements catch me before I hit the ground, wrapping me in a soft pink towel.
I try to speak, but all that comes out is a baby's gurgle.
Aria looks at me with a mixture of amusement and concern, "I warned you, Xiao Hong, the fountain's magic is unpredictable."
Zhi Qing giggles from his spot on the floor, "Welcome to the club, Xiao Hong! Now we can all explore this world together."
The Mysterious Case of The Turning Fountain
Da Wei chimes in, his voice high-pitched and cheerful, "Yeah, and maybe we'll find out how to change back along the way!"
I squirm uncomfortably in Aria's arms as an unfamiliar pressure builds in my lower body.
My baby muscles tense involuntarily, and I try to signal my distress to Aria, but can only manage incoherent babbles.
Before she understands what's happening, I feel a warmth spreading across the pink towel.
Zhi Qing and Da Wei point and giggle from their spots on the church floor.
Aria quickly adjusts her hold on me, gently repositioning the towel with one hand while her other hand shields me from view with her wings.
The Mysterious Case of The Turning Fountain
Aria looks down at me with a soft chuckle, "Looks like someone needs a little more practice with their new form."
Zi Qian crawls over, his eyes wide with curiosity, "Aria, is there a way to control this magic? Or are we stuck like this forever?"
Aria's expression turns thoughtful, "There might be a way, but it requires finding the source of the fountain's magic and understanding its purpose."
While still cradled in Aria's arms, I notice movement outside through the church's stained glass windows.
Several adults, walking past the church, suddenly stop and curiously approach the fountain.
Their movements are cautious as they reach out to touch the water, just as we did.
Their bodies start to shrink, clothes pooling around them as they transform into babies wrapped in colorful towels.
Aria's expression grows concerned as she watches more people approach the fountain, drawn to its mysterious glow.
The Mysterious Case of The Turning Fountain
My friends and I exchange worried glances, realizing our transformation wasn't an isolated incident.
