I was born to play soccer.
My dream is to become the national champion, and I won’t let anything get in the way of my dreams.
I have a heart condition, but I won’t let that stop me.
I have a great brother who takes care of me, and a coach who believes in me.
I have teammates who challenge me to be my best.
And I have soccer, which makes me feel alive.
I will keep playing until I reach my dream.
Soccer is my life, and I won’t give up on my dreams.
"Jun, how many times must I tell you? You have to eat your breakfast."
My brother Tetsu Misugi was trying to feed me some breakfast.
I pushed the food away and stood up from the table.
"I don’t have time for breakfast. I have practice today," I told him.
Tetsu sighed and put down the spoon he was holding.
"You always skip breakfast, Jun. That’s not good for your health," he said.
"I know, I know. But I don’t have time for it," I told him.

I grabbed my soccer bag from beside the door.
I could feel the familiar weight of my cleats and uniform inside.
I had a big practice session today, and I didn’t want to be late.
Tetsu followed me to the entryway, still holding the bowl of rice he had prepared for me.
"I made your favorite breakfast," he said.
"I know, and I appreciate it. But I really don’t have time," I told him.
Tetsu looked at me with a mix of concern and resignation.
"Fine, but you have to promise me you’ll eat a proper meal when you get back," he said.
I nodded firmly.
"Promise," I said.

Tetsu sighed again and put down the bowl of rice.
It was already growing cold, and I felt guilty for not being able to eat it.
But I couldn’t let my team down, not today. "I’ll see you later, Tetsu," I told him as I opened the door.
"Be careful, Jun," he said.
I nodded and hurried outside into the morning air.

The sun was already shining brightly, and there was a gentle breeze blowing through the trees.
It was going to be a beautiful day, and I was excited to get out on the field. Coach Kujira had been working us hard in practice lately, trying to prepare us for the upcoming season.
He had a new training regimen that was pushing us all to our limits, but I knew it would pay off in the end.
Jogging through the quiet neighborhood streets, I checked my watch for what felt like the hundredth time.
I knew that Coach Kujira had a strict policy about being on time, and I didn’t want to risk being late.
My chest tightened slightly as I picked up my pace, but I pushed through the discomfort.
The familiar route took me past the local shops, which were just starting to open their shutters for the day.
The smell of fresh bread wafted from the bakery, and I felt a pang of hunger in my stomach.

I adjusted the strap of my duffel bag, feeling the weight of my cleats and uniform shifting against my shoulder.
Two blocks from campus, I could see several of my teammates walking together towards the field.
I quickened my pace, determined to reach them before the first whistle blew.
