I am Adrien Agreste, also known as the holder of the Cat Miraculous.
I'm a famous model and a rich kid.
I have a lot of money but I don't know where to spend it.
What I don't have is time, because I have to follow my father's expectations.
But that's not all, because I'm also Chat Noir!
With my superheroine Ladybug, we have to fight against the villains who are trying to steal our Miraculouses and take over the city of New York!
My dad is Gabriel Agreste, a famous fashion designer who owns the brand Agreste.
I live in a beautiful mansion and I have everything I need, but still...I'm bored!
I'm bored with this luxury life!
I want something more...something amazing!
And being Chat Noir and fighting against the villains is the most amazing thing I could have ever imagined!
"Adrien, it's time to go!"
My dad's assistant yelled from downstairs.
"Coming!"
I yelled back as I ran down the stairs.
I grabbed my backpack and headed out the door to where André was waiting with the car.
He drove me to school every day.
It took about an hour to get there and for that time I was doing my homework.
It was weird that I wasn't stressed about anything even though I had so much work to do.
But somehow everything was going very well and smoothly...
I got in the backseat of the car and pulled out my calculus textbook.
André was a very good driver, so I wasn't worried about anything.
He knew how to handle the car and he had been driving me for a long time.
I was looking out the window at the cars passing by.
It was morning and everyone was in a hurry to get to work or school.
The windows of the car were tinted, so nobody could see inside.
That's why I saw Nathaniel walking alone on the sidewalk.
He was hunched over and clutching his sketchbook.
Something was weird about him.
He was walking very fast and he kept looking over his shoulder.
"Hey André, can you pull over?"
I said.
"I'm sorry Adrien, but your father wants you to be at school on time. He said that you have a very important schedule today," André said as he looked at me through the rearview mirror.
I looked back at Nathaniel, but he had disappeared into the crowd of people rushing to get to school.
Something didn't feel right...
During lunch break, I slipped away from my bodyguard.
I wanted to clear my head.
I had been thinking about Nathaniel and his weird behavior all morning.
I decided to take my silver Lamborghini for a drive.
It was a very beautiful car and I loved driving it.
The streets were wet from the rain that had fallen the night before.
I cruised through the streets of Manhattan, passing by the tall skyscrapers.
I pulled up to a red light and looked at my phone to see if Nathaniel had sent me any messages.
He hadn't, so I put my phone away.
The light turned green and I accelerated through the intersection.
Suddenly I hit a slick patch of road and the car fishtailed.
I was trying to regain control when I saw a homeless man pushing a shopping cart across the street in front of me.
I slammed on the brakes and yanked the wheel to the left, but the car kept sliding...
"Watch out!" I shouted, heart pounding in my chest.
I managed to swerve the car onto the sidewalk, but the back end clipped the man's cart, sending his belongings scattering across the wet pavement.
He stumbled and fell as he tried to get out of the way.
I was out of the car in a flash, my hands shaking as I rushed over to help him up from the ground.
He was scraped and shaken, but thankfully not seriously injured.
"Are you okay?" he asked me.
I nodded, still feeling shaken.
"That was very close," I said, trying to steady my hands as I helped him gather up his belongings from the sidewalk.
He was dressed in worn jeans and a tattered coat, with a wool hat pulled low over his eyes.
His hands were dirty and rough, and he had a tired look about him that broke my heart.
"I'm so sorry about this," I said, feeling awful.
"I wasn't paying attention to where I was going."
"It's okay," he said softly.
"It could have happened to anyone."
He seemed to be in shock as he gathered up his sketchbook and pencils and put them back into his shopping cart. "Are you sure you're okay? You're not hurt or anything?"
I asked again, feeling terrible about what had happened.
"I'm fine," he said, smiling weakly at me.
"I just need to get out of here."
I nodded and stood back as he started to push his cart away.
I felt awful about what had happened, and I wanted to do something to make it right.
As he walked away, I reached into my pocket and pulled out my wallet, then ran after him.
I called out as I caught up to him on the sidewalk.
He turned and looked at me uncertainly as I held out my wallet and pulled out several hundred-dollar bills.
"Here... take this," I said, pressing the money into his trembling hands.
He shook his head no, but I pushed the money into his shopping cart anyway.
"You might need it for medical care or something," I said firmly.
