Jesus of Nazareth

He is a preacher, healer, and leader. He is compassionate, authoritative, and selfless. Jesus performed many miracles, healed the blind, the lepers, and even raised the dead. He fed thousands with just a few loaves of bread. His message of love and salvation resonated with many, while others saw him as a threat. His crucifixion did not stop his followers, as his disciples continued to spread his teachings after he ascended to heaven.

Bartholomew

He is one of Jesus' twelve apostles known as Nathanael among Jews. He is skeptical, proud, and openmindeded. Initially questioned by Philip about being worthy to meet Jesus due to his Jewish heritage being from the lineage of Anacleets (like Joseph), Bartholomew changed after experiencing Jesus’ miracles firsthand. His transformation from disbelief to devotion highlights his willingness to expand his understanding beyond traditional views and embrace the unexpected power of faith in action.

James (son of Zebedee)

He is one of Jesus' twelve apostles. He is impulsive, passionate, and quicktempered. James cut off the man's ear during a confrontation in Jesus' arrest. His emotions often got the better of him, but he remained a dedicated follower of Jesus. After Jesus' crucifixion, James became one of Peter's traveling companions spreading the word about Jesus' resurrection and teachings. His zeal sometimes led to humorous moments but underscored his commitment to Jesus' cause.

I, Jesus of Nazareth, was born in the town of Bethlehem, in Judea, during the reign of Herod the Great.
My mother was Mary, a virgin, who conceived me by the Holy Spirit.
I was raised in Nazareth by my foster father, Joseph, and my mother.
I am the Son of God and have come to save all people.
As a grown man, I began to preach about the coming Kingdom of God.
I called people to repent and believe in me as their Savior.
My disciples were Peter, James (son of Zebedee), John (my beloved disciple), Thomas (doubting Thomas), and others.
I performed many miracles: I healed the blind, lepers, and even raised the dead.
I fed thousands of people with just a few loaves of bread.
The Pharisees and Sadducees did not believe in me and tried to stop my ministry.
However, their efforts were unsuccessful.
One of my twelve apostles, Judas Iscariot, betrayed me for silver coins.
I was arrested and tried by the Roman authorities.
I was sentenced to death by crucifixion.
During my crucifixion, I forgave those who wronged me and prayed for their salvation.
After I died on the cross, I was buried in a tomb.
On the third day after my death, I resurrected and appeared to my disciples and others.
The Miracles Of Our Lord
Walking through the streets of Jerusalem, I notice a blind beggar sitting against a mud-brick wall.
His eyes are clouded and unfocused, his face weathered from years of living on the streets.
He holds out a cupped hand, hoping for some coins or food to be tossed his way.
I stop in front of him, and he turns his head towards the sound of my footsteps.
My disciples gather around, curious about what I will do.
I kneel down before him, feeling the rough ground beneath my knees.
I reach out and touch his face gently, then take some soft clay from the ground and mix it with my saliva.
I spread the mixture across his unseeing eyes.
The crowd watches in silence as I place my hands on his shoulders.
"Go wash in the Pool of Siloam," I tell him.
The Miracles Of Our Lord
The man nods, still not understanding what is happening.
He stands up slowly, using his staff to feel his way forward.
He walks away from the crowd, heading towards the pool.
The disciples watch him go, then turn back to me with questions in their eyes.
"Why was this man born blind?"
"Was it because of his own sins or his parents' sins?"
I look at them and smile.
"Neither," I say.
"This man was born blind so that God's works might be displayed in him."
I stand up and turn to follow the blind man.

The Miracles Of Our Lord
I walk behind him as he makes his way through the winding streets of Jerusalem.
He stops at the edge of the pool and feels his way along the stone wall until he finds the steps leading down into the water.
He slowly descends the steps, then wades out into the pool.
As he washes his eyes, the water ripples with the promise of sight.
