Maya Thompson
curious, and adventurous. Maya notices a boy eating alone and decides to join him, sparking an unexpected friendship. She is intrigued by his quiet nature and enjoys his company. Maya's interactions with him reveal her outgoing personality as she tries to engage him in conversation and learn more about him.
Jason Mitchell
reserved, and observant. Jason often eats alone during lunch, preferring solitude over socializing. His life changes when Maya approaches him and initiates a conversation. Despite initial hesitation, he finds comfort in her presence and begins to open up about his interests in books and writing.
"Hey, mind if I sit here?"
I looked up at the girl who was standing in front of me at the lunch table.
The girl had brown hair that flowed all the way down to her shoulders and was smiling at me, waiting for my answer.
"Uh, no I don't mind."
She sat down and put her tray on the table, then turned to me with her smile still on her face.
"I'm Maya Thompson, I'm in the 11th grade."
I looked at her curiously; she seemed like a very outgoing person.
She was the first person to talk to me all year.
"Jason Mitchell."
She nodded, "Well, Jason, what are you reading?"
I showed her the book I was reading and she nodded in approval.
"I like to read also, but I never get much time to read."
I nodded and put my book down.
It was my favorite book and I had already read it five times.
It was called "The Hobbit" and was written by J.R.R. Tolkien.
