I am a king, a very rich king.
My palace is as magnificent as the heaven.
I have a kingdom, and my son is my only child.
I prepared a banquet for him.
The street leading to my palace is paved with gold.
There are trees on both sides of the road, and these trees bear fruits of different kinds every month.
Not one single tree in my kingdom withers or remains barren of fruits.
When I need to prepare a banquet for my son, I told Ji Ye, my servant, to buy all the fruits we need.
"Your Majesty, which fruits do you want us to buy?"
Ji Ye asked.
I smiled before saying, "Buy all kinds of fruits."
"Alright, Your Majesty."
Ji Ye bowed his head and left immediately to do what I told him to do.
After he had left, I thought about what kind of food I would like to serve my son during the banquet.
Since my son likes eating sweets, I decided that I would serve him sweets during the banquet.
"Come here, Lian."
I called my servant.
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Lian answered and walked closer to me.
"What can I do for you, Your Majesty?"
I asked before telling him what I want him to do.
"I want you to buy all kinds of food for the banquet that I am preparing for my son."
"All kinds of food your majesty? Yes, the king replied
I walked through the palace kitchens, my footsteps echoing off the walls as the servants scurried about with platters and ingredients.
The aroma of roasting meats mingled with the sweet scent of pastries, creating a mouthwatering blend that tantalized my senses.
The main kitchen was a hive of activity, with the head chef orchestrating the preparations like a maestro leading an orchestra.
Whole roasted boars hung from the ceiling, dripping with honey and spices, while steaming platters of fish were adorned with delicate sauces and rare spices.
Delicate dumplings filled with exotic meats were steamed to perfection, and the sound of sizzling meat filled the air as it was expertly grilled by skilled cooks.
As I made my way through the bustling kitchen, I stopped at each station to taste and comment on the dishes being prepared.
The head chef beamed with pride as I praised his creations, and the other cooks worked even more diligently to ensure that every dish was perfect.
Finally, I reached the dessert section, where an array of colorful sweets was arranged artfully on a long table.
I watched as he stumbled, almost dropping the platter and sending the carefully arranged fruits tumbling to the floor.
Without hesitation, I rushed forward and caught the platter just in time, saving it from disaster.
The servant breathed a sigh of relief as I set the platter down safely on the table.
"Thank you so much," he said gratefully.
"It's no trouble at all," I replied with a smile.
"Accidents happen. The important thing is that we were able to prevent them."
The servant nodded in agreement before returning to his duties.
As I turned back to survey the sweets once again, I couldn't help but feel proud of how well everything had turned out.
I stepped out into the palace gardens, where servants were busily tending to the flower beds and trimming the hedges.
The morning sun glinted off the golden fountains, creating a dazzling display of light and water.
Nearby, gardeners were carefully pruning roses to create beautiful centerpieces for the banquet tables.
As I walked along the winding paths, I came across Ji Ye, who was overseeing a group of workers as they hung colorful lanterns from the trees.
"Good morning, Your Majesty," he bowed respectfully as I approached.
"Good morning, Ji Ye," I replied with a smile.
"How are the preparations coming along?"
"All is going well, Your Majesty," he said confidently.
"The garden is looking particularly beautiful today."
I nodded in agreement before turning my attention to the lanterns.
"They look lovely," I said appreciatively.
"Please make sure to send messengers to remind our guests about the timing of tonight's banquet."
"Yes, Your Majesty," he bowed again before dispatching a few runners to deliver the messages. As I continued my stroll through the gardens, I noticed a young gardener approaching me with a large bouquet of freshly cut flowers in his hands.
"Your Majesty," he said nervously as he presented me with the flowers.
"These are for you."
I took the bouquet from him and examined it closely.
The flowers were a deep red color and had a delicate fragrance that filled my senses.
"They're beautiful," I said sincerely.
"Thank you so much."
The gardener beamed with pride before bowing and returning to his work.
I continued on my way, admiring the beauty of the gardens and feeling grateful for all of the hard work that had gone into preparing for tonight's banquet.
As I entered the banquet hall, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment at how everything had come together.
The tables were set with fine crystal glasses, and the room was filled with the delicious aroma of roasting meats and freshly baked bread. The guests were billed to have started arriving but I noticed no one had come. I was beginning to get worried and ordered my servants to go again and remind them about the banquet.
The women wore elegant gowns made of silk and satin, while the men wore tailored suits with crisp white shirts and black ties.
As I made my way through the crowd, greeting our guests and thanking them for coming, I couldn't help but feel grateful for all of the wonderful people in my life.
Finally, it was time for us to take our seats at the table and begin eating.
I stood at the palace gates, watching as Ji Ye prepared to leave on his mission.
He adjusted his formal robes and checked the invitation scrolls one final time before mounting his horse.
"Remember, Lord Chen is sensitive about his status - approach his mansion first," I said, marking the route on a map for him.
Ji Ye nodded, his expression serious as I briefed him on the location of each guest's residence.
"And don't forget to bow deeply when you present the invitation," I added.
Ji Ye nodded again, and I could see the determination in his eyes.
When the palace guards brought out his horse, I personally helped him mount it, knowing that the success of my son's banquet rested on his shoulders.
"Go well," I said, patting his horse on the neck.
Ji Ye bowed deeply before spurring his horse towards the city, its golden streets glinting in the sunlight.
He rode ahead of his fellow servants, leading them on in ther golden carriage, its wheels clattering against the cobblestones as they made their way towards Lord Chen's mansion.
The sun shone brightly overhead, casting a warm glow over the city.
Finally, they reached Lord Chen's mansion, its jade-tiled roofs glinting in the morning sun.
The sound of birdsong filled the air as we approached the ornate gates, which were guarded by two stone lions.
Ji Ye reined in his horse and dismounted, bowing deeply before presenting the invitation to Lord Chen's servants.
The servants, dressed in their finest blue uniforms, bowed low and led us into the front courtyard.
As we walked through the courtyard, I couldn't help but admire the beauty of Lord Chen's home.
The walls were adorned with intricate carvings and colorful tapestries, and the sound of running water filled the air.
Finally, we reached the outer reception hall, where Lord Chen was waiting for us.
He was an elderly man with a long white beard and piercing brown eyes. He wore a simple yet elegant robe made of silk and satin, and his presence commanded respect.
I sat at the head of the grand banquet table, watching as the guests chatted and laughed around me.
The servants bustled about, bringing out dish after dish of delicious food.
My son sat to my right, his eyes shining with excitement as he sampled each new dish.
The honey-glazed boar was a particular favorite, and he couldn't stop raving about it.
As the final course was brought out, Ji Ye rose from his seat near the kitchen entrance.
The room gradually fell silent as he stood, his ceremonial robes rustling softly against the floor.
His hands trembled slightly as he adjusted his collar, and I could see the nervousness in his eyes.
The other servants paused their work, holding trays and pitchers in mid-air as they watched Ji Ye make his way to the front of the room.
"Your Majesty, esteemed guests," Ji Ye began, his voice steadying as he spoke.
"I bring news that Lord Chen has accepted your invitation and will be arriving shortly."
A murmur of surprise and excitement rippled through the room, and my son leaned over to whisper, "This could change everything for our family."
