My name is David, son of Paul. I am a Knight in the service of the Kingdom of Aledress, ruled by King Morgan the First. Three years ago, goblins invaded our southern frontier, and my father went to fight them but never returned. Raised in the palace with Princess Amanda, we grew up together and shared a bond of love. Soon, perhaps, we can truly be together; but I at least get to see her face and golden hair every day.
David
He is a young noble and KnightinTraining in the Kingdom of Aledress. He is loyal, brave, and hopeful. Raised in the palace alongside Princess Amanda, David grew up loving her, hoping for a future together. When goblins invaded, his father was missing in action, and he vowed to find out what happened. Now, as an adult, he seeks to uncover the truth about his father's disappearance and protect his kingdom from future threats.
Amanda
She is the Princess of Aledress, daughter of King Morgan the First. She is beautiful, kind, and resilient. Raised alongside David, she and he share a lifelong bond and unspoken love. As goblins invaded their frontier, she stayed behind at the palace to care for the princesses and nobles. Her courage inspires David to seek justice for his missing father. Despite her position, she shows remarkable strength and compassion in times of crisis.
Goblins
They are aggressive creatures that invaded the southern frontier of the Kingdom of Aledress three years ago. They are fierce, destructive, and feared. The goblin invasion led to Paul’s disappearance and catalyzed events that shaped David’s quest for truth and justice. Their presence looms over the narrative as an ongoing threat that perhaps only a unified leadership can effectively counter.
My name is David, son of Paul.
I am a Knight in the service of the Kingdom of Aledress, which is ruled by King Morgan the First.
Three years ago, when the goblins invaded our southern frontier, my father went to fight them but never returned.
I don't know what happened to him—whether he died there or was taken prisoner—and not knowing has left a void in my life that can't be filled.
But I've vowed to find out what happened to him and seek justice for his memory, no matter how long it takes.
The Kingdom of Aledress is at peace once more, and I've been training as a Knight under the guidance of Senior Reginald, who taught my father before me.
He's tough on me sometimes, but I know he means well and wants me to be as good a Knight as my father was.
When I'm not training, I spend my time with Princess Amanda—the daughter of King Morgan the First—and her younger sister, Sophia.
I've known them both since we were children, and I've loved Amanda from the moment I met her.
I know I'll never be able to tell her how I feel—I'm just a noble, after all, and she's a Princess—but being with her every day is enough for me.
After morning training, I hang around the practice yard while the other Knights go their separate ways.
Senior Reginald wipes the sweat from his brow and examines the notched practice sword in his hand.
I approach him, my heart pounding in my chest.
"Senior Reginald," I say, trying to sound calm.
He looks up at me, a hint of surprise on his face.
"Yes, David?"
I take a deep breath and ask the question that has been plaguing me for so long.
"Do you remember my father?"
Reginald's shoulders tense slightly, but he nods.
"Yes, I remember him. He was a good man and a fine Knight."
I nod, feeling a lump form in my throat.
"I know. I just... I don't know what happened to him. And I need to find out."
Reginald looks at me for a long moment, then nods slowly.
"I understand," he says.
"Come with me."
He leads me to a quiet corner of the practice yard and sits down on a bench, motioning for me to do the same.
"The final battle was chaotic," he says, staring off into space as if reliving the memory.
"We were vastly outnumbered by the goblin hordes, and they were relentless in their attacks. They came at us from all sides, screaming their savage war cries and swinging their crude weapons with no regard for their own lives." He pauses for a moment, collecting his thoughts before continuing.
"Our formation held strong against their initial assault, but soon we found ourselves surrounded by goblins. We fought valiantly, taking down as many as we could, but there were simply too many of them. Our numbers dwindled quickly, and it became clear that we would not be able to hold out for much longer."
He takes a deep breath before continuing.
"That's when your father made his move. He broke formation and charged forward, fighting his way through the goblin ranks with ease. He was a skilled warrior, and he took down many goblins before they could even react. But there were too many of them, and soon he found himself surrounded."
Reginald pauses again, this time struggling to keep his emotions in check.
"He fought bravely," he says finally, his voice cracking slightly.
"He took down as many goblins as he could, but there were just too many of them. In the end, he fell to the ground, his sword slipping from his grasp. I remember seeing him lying there, his body broken and battered, as the goblins closed in for the kill."
I lean against a wooden post in the training yard, still catching my breath from our morning sparring session.
Reginald wipes the sweat from his brow with a cloth and examines the notched practice sword in his hand.
I approach him, my heart pounding in my chest.
"Senior Reginald," I say, trying to sound calm.
He looks up at me, a hint of surprise on his face.
"Yes, David?"
"Do you know if there are any survivors from that battle?"
Reginald's shoulders tense slightly, but he nods.
"I'm not sure," he says.
"But I think there might be one soldier who made it back. His name is Marcus. He was badly injured in the fighting and spent months recovering. He's not a Knight anymore, but he still serves the Kingdom as a guard at the western gate."
"Is he still here in the Kingdom?"
Reginald nods again.
"Yes. He lives in one of the barracks near the western gate. But be warned, David - Marcus doesn't talk much about that day. The memories are still painful for him."
I nod, gripping the hilt of my sword tightly.
"Thank you, Senior Reginald. I'll go talk to him now."
Reginald nods once more before walking away, leaving me alone in the training yard.
I take a deep breath and head towards the barracks where Marcus lives.
As I walk through the halls, I can't help but feel a mix of emotions - excitement at the prospect of finally learning what happened to my father, and fear at what I might discover. When I arrive at Marcus's room, I knock softly on the door and wait for an answer.
After a few moments, I hear footsteps approaching from inside.
The door opens slightly, revealing a man with a gruff expression and a missing arm.
"Can I help you?" he asks gruffly.
"Marcus?" "Yes."
"I'm David, son of Paul."
Marcus's eyes widen slightly as recognition dawns on him.
"David... oh yes! You're Paul's boy!"
He steps aside to let me enter his room.
I do so hesitantly, feeling a little out of place in this unfamiliar environment.
