I am David, son of Paul.
My father was a Knight in the service of the Kingdom of Aledress, ruled by King Morgan the First.
Three years ago, goblins invaded our southern frontier and my father went to fight them.
He never came back.
The Kingdom was at war with the goblins for two years, but now the war was over and we had won, my father was never seen again.
I was raised in the palace with Princess Amanda, the daughter of King Morgan and Queen Elizabeth.
She is to be married to me when I become of age, as PrinceinWaiter and future Queen.
We grew up together and became friends.
We were destined to be married and we both knew it, so we grew up loving each other.
When I turned 18 years old, I became a Knight and started serving the Kingdom.
Now I am 21 years old and Princess Amanda is 20.
We were to be married soon, perhaps next year, as my mother had said.
I had become a Knight to serve the Kingdom and protect my love, Princess Amanda, from any danger that might come to her.
I was happy to be able to serve her and protect her from any danger.
Though I was not with her all the time, as I had to go fight for the Kingdom's safety, she was always on my mind and in my heart.
The Lost Prince And His Beautiful Princess
I found her in the palace garden, sitting on a bench under her favorite oak tree.
The late afternoon sun was shining down on her golden hair, making it shine like gold.
She looked troubled, and I could see that she was worried about something.
I approached her quietly, not wanting to startle her.
"Amanda, what's wrong?" she asked me.
"I'm worried about something," she said.
"I heard rumors that there are goblin scouts near the northern villages. I'm afraid that the peace we fought so hard for might be broken."
I knelt down in front of her and took her delicate hands in mine.
They were soft and warm, and I could feel her trembling slightly.
"Amanda, I promise you that I will do everything in my power to protect you and our kingdom. I will not let anything happen to you or our people."
The Lost Prince And His Beautiful Princess
She looked up at me with tears in her eyes.
"David, I know that you will do everything you can, but I'm still scared. The thought of those goblins coming back and hurting us again is terrifying."
I pulled her into my arms and held her close.
"I understand your fear, Amanda, but you have to trust me. I will do everything in my power to keep you safe."
She nodded slowly and pulled away from me.
"Thank you, David. Just knowing that you are here for me makes me feel better."
I smiled at her and stood up.
"I will always be here for you, Amanda. You are my love and my duty." She reached out and touched the sword at my hip.
It was the same model as the one my father had carried when he disappeared.
I drew the blade and presented it to her, handle first.
"This is for you, Amanda. It's the same model as the one my father carried when he disappeared. I want you to have it as a symbol of my love and protection for you."
She took the sword from me and examined it carefully.
"It's beautiful," she said.
"Thank you, David. I will treasure this always."
I smiled at her and put my hand on hers.

"I'm glad you like it," I said.
"Now let's go inside and have some dinner. We can talk more about this later."
Walking back through the garden's winding path, I noticed movement in the branches above us.
I looked up and saw a rust-colored squirrel scurrying down the trunk of the oak tree.
It stopped at eye level with us and chattered loudly.
I was surprised to hear it speak in clear human speech.
"The green ones dig deep, deeper than you know," it said.
"Below the northern hills, they build in darkness."
Amanda gasped and grabbed my arm tightly.
The squirrel's tail flicked back and forth nervously as it continued to chatter.
"Time grows short, young knight. The goblins will not be defeated so easily."
I turned to Amanda, my voice steady despite the shock.
The Lost Prince And His Beautiful Princess
"We need to warn the King immediately," I said.
Amanda nodded, her eyes wide with urgency. "Yes, and we must prepare for what lies beneath those hills."
Following the squirrel's warning, Amanda and I rushed through the palace's marble corridors to reach the royal library.
The room was dimly lit, with rows of towering oak shelves that stretched from floor to ceiling.
Amanda led me through the maze of books to a far corner where a large window overlooked the garden.
Near the window stood a tall cabinet with intricate carvings of leaves and vines.
Amanda produced a small brass key from her dress pocket and unlocked the cabinet.
She explained that her father, the King, had given her the key years ago, entrusting her with the responsibility of safeguarding the kingdom's most valuable documents.
Inside the cabinet, we found stacks of yellowed scrolls tied with faded ribbons.
Amanda carefully untied one of them and unrolled it on a nearby table.
The parchment crackled as she smoothed out its brittle surface.
The map depicted the northern hills, with winding paths and small villages scattered throughout.

But what caught our attention was a network of lines that resembled roots or tunnels spreading beneath the hills. Amanda's finger traced along the lines, following them as they converged at a central point deep within the hills.
It appeared to be some sort of chamber or cavern.
The map was old and worn, but we could make out strange symbols etched into the walls surrounding this underground chamber.
I noticed something peculiar about these symbols - they seemed to match the markings on the goblin armor we had found during our battles in the south.
Amanda pointed to another part of the map, where a small tunnel entrance was marked near an old miller's waterwheel.

"David, this must be the entrance to their underground lair," Amanda whispered, her voice filled with a mix of fear and determination.
"We need to gather a group of trusted knights and investigate this immediately," I replied, feeling the weight of our discovery pressing down on me.
Amanda nodded, her eyes fierce with resolve. "And we must do it quietly, without alarming the kingdom until we know more."
