I was just twelve years old when I found out who I really was.
I was standing in a museum with the rest of my class, staring at a statue that was supposed to be a replica of Zeus’s lightning bolt.
A woman with curly brown hair and glasses led our group, pointing out different things about the statue.
Some of the kids were paying attention, but most were not.
They were all more interested in getting to the gift shop and buying souvenirs.
I was more interested in the actual museum than the gift shop, and I happened to be looking directly at the statue when it started to shake.
At first, I thought it was just the building, but then I realized that it was only the statue that was moving.
The stone that made up its body began to crack, and then it split open, revealing something metal underneath.
Suddenly, there was an explosion, and glass flew everywhere.
The woman screamed, and some of the kids ran for cover.
I stood there, frozen, as the glass settled on the floor.
Then I looked back up at the statue and saw that it had changed.
It was no longer a stone replica of Zeus’s lightning bolt; it was the real thing.
The actual lightning bolt stood in front of me, glowing with electricity.
Without thinking, I reached out and took it.
Time seemed to stop around me; everything else froze.
I heard a voice behind me.
"You are my descendant."
I turned around and saw a man with long white hair and a white beard.
He was tall and slender, but he seemed to fill the room with his presence.
The air around him crackled with electricity, and I could feel the power emanating from him.
He wore long, flowing robes that looked like they were made of clouds.
They were white and gray, and they seemed to shift and change color as he moved.
I stared at him in awe, my hand still clutching the lightning bolt.
I tried to speak, but my throat was dry.
The words came out as a whisper, barely audible even to myself.
"Who are you?"
The man’s eyes flashed with lightning, and a small smile formed beneath his beard.
He raised his hand, and suddenly the air was filled with the scent of rain.
Thunder rumbled in the distance, even though we were indoors.
"I am Zeus, and your journey begins now."
Zeus extended his hand, and I watched as electricity danced between his fingers.
The bolt in my hand pulsed with energy, mirroring the power that crackled around him.
The museum visitors, frozen in place, faded into the shadows as Zeus led me through the exhibit hall.
Each step we took made the marble floor crackle with static, leaving scorch marks in our wake.
My legs trembled beneath me as I struggled to contain the raw power flowing through me.
We stopped at a display case containing an ancient map of the world.
Zeus pointed to several locations on the map, naming them one by one.
"Mount Olympus, the Great Wall of China, the Pyramids of Giza, and the Colosseum. These are the places you must go to find the descendants of the other gods and their weapons."
As he spoke, I noticed that each location was circled with a small symbol.
Zeus continued to explain that I needed to find these descendants and unite them in order to defeat the Titans.
He said that they were growing stronger every day and that time was running out.
I listened intently, my mind racing with questions.
But before I could ask any of them, Zeus handed me a small, glowing orb.
"This will guide you on your journey," he said.
"Trust in it, and it will lead you to the others."
I took the orb and held it tightly in my hand.
It felt warm against my skin, and I could sense its power coursing through me.
With a final nod, Zeus turned and disappeared into thin air.
I was left standing alone in the museum, the lightning bolt still clutched in my hand. I looked around at the broken glass and shattered exhibit cases.
The museum visitors were still frozen in place, unaware of what had just happened.
I knew that I had to get out of there before they realized what had occurred.
I tucked the lightning bolt into my backpack and quickly made my way out of the museum.
As soon as I stepped outside, I felt a strange sensation wash over me.
It was as if time had slowed down again, and everything around me seemed to be moving in slow motion.
I looked down at the orb in my hand and saw that it was glowing brighter than before.
Suddenly, I felt a surge of energy run through my body, and I was lifted off the ground.
I closed my eyes tight, unsure of what was happening to me.
When I opened them again, I found myself standing on a hill overlooking a vast landscape.
A voice beside me broke the silence.
"Quite a view, isn't it?" said a girl with fiery red hair and eyes that seemed to flicker like flames.
I turned to her, startled, and she grinned. "Name's Ember. Zeus sent me to help you find the others."
Ember and I sat down on fallen logs near the hilltop's edge.
We both needed to catch our breath after being suddenly teleported from wherever we were to this unknown place.
Ember pulled out a worn leather journal, its pages filled with sketches of ancient weapons and what looked like Greek text.
I was surprised that I could understand the writing.
She ran her fingers through her flame-red hair and smiled.
"I guess I should show you what I can do," she said, holding out her palm.
A small flame appeared in her hand, flickering softly.
"My name is Ember for a reason. I'm Hephaestus's daughter, and I can make fire."
She closed the journal and pointed to it.
"This is my father's book. It has all the information we need to find the others."
She flipped through the pages and stopped at one that showed a map of Greece.
"According to this, our first stop is Mount Olympus. Not the real one, of course. But there's a gateway to it in modern-day Greece."
Ember stood up and extended a hand to help me up.
"Are you ready for this?" she asked, her eyes serious now, the flames that once danced within them now steady.
I hesitated, feeling the weight of thunder in my backpack. "I don't know if I'm ready, but I know that I must be."
Ember nodded, her expression softening. "We'll figure it out together. You're not alone in this."
