I woke up and looked over at my boyfriend Jim and our baby girl Nia who's a lion queen hybrid.
I got up and went to take my morning shower before waking them up.
I came in the room and said, "Rise and shine."
Nia sat up and rubbed her eyes.
She had afro hair.
She put her hands on my cheeks and said, "Mom."
She kissed my cheek and I hugged her and kissed the top of her head.
I smiled and said, "Let's get you dressed and fed."
I picked her up and took her to her room.
I looked through her closet and said, "What do you want to wear?"
She looked through her closet and said, "Mom, I want to wear my cropped shirt and my booty shorts."
I smiled and said, "Okay."
I pulled out her cropped shirt and her booty shorts.
I undressed her quickly and put her clothes on her.
I put on her converse while she put on her socks.
I grabbed her lion hat and put it on her head.
I grabbed her diaper bag and we left the room.
I woke Jim up and he stretched.
He sat up and kissed me his hand on my behind as he talked to Nia.
He said, "Hey Nia. How's my baby girl?"
Nia ran over to him and jumped in his lap.
She hugged him and kissed his cheek.
Jim smiled and said, "I love you, baby girl."

I said, "Let's go make breakfast."
Jim said, "I'll make breakfast. You and Nia can sit down."
I said, "Okay."
Nia and I sat down at the table.
Nia looked out the window and her ears twitched.
I looked out the window and saw the sun was up.
The kitchen was filled with a warm glow.
I heard a whisper that sounded like it was coming from outside.
"Nia," it whispered.
It sounded like it was coming from the leaves rustling in the wind.
I stopped talking and tried to hear it again.
Nia looked at me with curiosity in her eyes rather than fear.

Jim was flipping pancakes and didn't hear anything.
I got up and went to the window and looked out into our backyard.
The shadows were moving around in the trees.
The Lion Queen Hybrid
The sun was shining down, casting a warm glow over the yard.
The trees swayed gently in the breeze, their leaves rustling softly.
I let out a sigh of relief.
It was just the wind.
Nia giggled from the table, her laughter infectious.
Jim placed a plate of pancakes in front of her, ruffling her afro playfully.
"Eat up, little queen," he said with a grin.
I sat back down with them and we enjoyed our breakfast together.
I looked out the window again and saw a shadow flicker at the edge of the yard.
The Lion Queen Hybrid
The breakfast chatter continued, but my curiosity was piqued.
I excused myself and stepped outside into the morning air.
The sun was shining brightly, casting a warm glow over the yard.
I scanned the yard, looking for any sign of movement.
My eyes settled on the spot where the shadow had flickered earlier.
I moved cautiously, each step deliberate.
The grass beneath my feet was cool and damp.
As I approached the edge of the yard, a faint rustling caught my attention.
I slowed my pace, my heart pounding in anticipation.
A pair of golden eyes blinked at me from the underbrush, watching intently.
I took a deep breath and continued forward, my senses heightened.
The rustling grew louder, and I could feel the air shift around me.
I paused, unsure of what might emerge from the underbrush.
Suddenly, a voice rang out from the neighboring house.
"It's just my cat, Luna," Sam called out from his porch, waving casually.
I exhaled in relief as a sleek black cat slinked out from the bushes, its eyes still fixed on me.
Sam chuckled, "Sorry about that. She likes to scare people."
I nodded, watching as Luna sauntered back to Sam's porch.
