I am a boy who loves a girl.
Her name is Lily.
I want to tell her how I feel.
So, I decided to write her a love letter.
I will give it to her after school tomorrow.
When I got home, I started writing my letter.
It was harder than I thought.
Every word had to be perfect.
After many tries, finally I had a letter I was proud of.
Dear Lily,
I love you.
You make my heart feel happy and fly.
Sometimes when I am with you, I feel like I can do anything.
When I am alone, you are all I think about.
You make my life complete and better.
I want to be with you forever and always be your best friend.
Love,Ethan
The next day, I took my letter to school and gave it to her after classes ended.
She told me to meet her in our favorite spot at the park because she wanted to talk to me.
When Lily showed up, she looked unhappy, but then she smiled and hugged me.
She said she loved me, too!
We talked and laughed until the sun started to set.
We promised each other we would never let a day go by without saying "I love you."
As the days went by, we spent as much time together as we could.
One day, she asked me about my health because she noticed that I was getting tired easily.
I hadn’t told her yet, but I wasn’t healthy.
The Last First Date
One afternoon, as we sat on our bench together, she asked me about my health again.
"Are you sure you feel okay?" she asked me, looking into my eyes with concern.
I had a secret I was trying to keep from her and it was hard.
"Yes," I said, making a smile.
She looked at me for a little while longer, then she nodded.
We walked over to the ice cream stand and got some ice cream cones.
I tried not to think about anything else except for the cold and sweet thing in my hands that was melting away, but I couldn’t forget about my secret.
Then Lily laughed at something silly I said, and all of a sudden everything was like it used to be again.
We strolled back to our bench eating our ice cream cones until they were gone.
As we sat back down, Lily turned to me with a serious expression.
"Ethan, I know something's wrong," she said softly.
I took a deep breath and finally admitted, "Lily, there's something I need to tell you about my health."
The Last First Date
The moment I finished speaking, Lily's hand tightened around mine.
Her eyes glistened with unshed tears, but she nodded, urging me to continue.
"The cancer... it's spreading faster than we thought," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper.
She leaned in closer, resting her head on my shoulder as I sat there, feeling the warmth of her presence wash over me.
The world around us faded away, leaving only the sound of our breathing and the beating of our hearts.
We sat there in silence for a long time.
Then, without warning, a sharp pain shot through my chest.
I winced, clutching at my side as Lily's worried gaze turned into panic.
The Last First Date
The sun was dipping below the horizon, casting long shadows across the park.
The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers and the distant chirping of birds.
As I sat there, Lily's hand intertwined with mine, I felt a sense of peace wash over me.
"Ethan," she whispered, her voice steady yet fragile.
I turned to face her, meeting her determined gaze.
"Let's make a list," she suggested, a hint of a smile playing on her lips.
"Things we want to do together."
Her optimism was infectious, and I couldn't help but nod in agreement.
We sat there for a while longer, brainstorming ideas and making plans for all the adventures we wanted to have together.
Finally, I reached for my phone to jot down our list.
"How about visiting the beach at sunrise?" Lily suggested, her eyes lighting up with excitement.
I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through my chest. "I'd love that," I replied, adding it to our growing list.
"And maybe a picnic under the stars?" she added, squeezing my hand gently.
The Last First Date
I nodded, picturing us lying on a blanket, surrounded by the twinkling night sky.
The evening air was cool and crisp, carrying the scent of blooming flowers and freshly cut grass.
The park was quiet, except for the distant chirping of crickets and the occasional passing car.
As we sat there, I held her hand firmly, feeling the warmth seep into my bones.
"Let's plan the picnic under the stars," she whispered, her eyes shining with determination.
I nodded, picturing us lying on a blanket, surrounded by the vast expanse of night sky.
We sat there for a while longer, lost in our own thoughts as the sun dipped below the horizon.
Then, without warning, a wave of exhaustion washed over me.
The Last First Date
I knew it was time to head back home.
Lily must have sensed it too, as she stood up and wrapped her arm around my waist, supporting me as we walked out of the park.
Each step felt like a mountain, but with Lily by my side, I found the strength to keep going.
Finally, we reached my house, and I collapsed onto the couch, breathless.
Lily knelt beside me, gently brushing a strand of hair from my forehead.
"Rest now," she said softly, her voice a balm to my weary soul.
I nodded, closing my eyes as she covered me with a blanket.
