Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière.
She was a noble girl at the age of 16, a second-year student at the Royal Academy of Mahoutsensu, and in the spring, she turned 17.
Moreover, she was called "Louise the Zero" by her classmates.
She was the daughter of a count, and her family was in the upper ranks of the nobility.
Her older sister was already engaged to the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Tollestine to the east.
Louise herself was proud of her noble status and had a high self-esteem, several times higher than normal people.
But there was one thing that made her feel extremely miserable.
No matter what kind of magic she used, it would end up with an explosion every time.
She couldn't even use the simplest system magic to make herself look better.
She tried her best but still failed, and in the end, she gave up.
Everyone in her class laughed at her and called her "Louise the Zero."
The day arrived when students could summon their familiars, and it was also the day when Louise's dream would come true.
She stood in front of the mirror and murmured to herself, "I am not a failure. I am a noble girl. I will definitely be able to summon a familiar today!"
I watched her small frame tremble with determination.
She stood in the middle of the summoning circle, her classmates gathered around her.
They whispered and snickered behind their hands.
The red-haired Germanian, Kirche, shouted loudly, "I bet she can't do it again!"
I saw Louise's knuckles turn white as she gripped her wand tighter.
She raised it with practiced precision, though her arm shook slightly.
The morning sun caught the tears forming in her eyes, but she blinked them away.
She began to chant the words of the summoning spell, her voice growing stronger with each word.
The circle started to glow, first dimly, then with increasing intensity.
A blinding flash erupted from her wand, forcing me to shield my eyes.
The light was so bright that it seemed to fill the entire room.
When I opened my eyes again, I found myself standing in a courtyard.
Students in medieval uniforms milled about, their faces filled with shock and confusion.
They were all staring at me.
I blinked, trying to process what was happening.
A small pink-haired girl stood before me, her wand still raised.
She looked disappointed, muttering something in a language I didn't understand.
The other students burst into laughter, pointing at both of us.
But in that moment, I realized I was her familiar.
Dazed from the summoning, I sat down on the stone courtyard.
Louise was arguing with her professor in their strange language.
I couldn't understand the words, but her tone was unmistakable.
She was defending herself, insisting she had completed the ritual correctly despite summoning a mere commoner.
Her small stature belied her fierce determination.
Her pink hair caught the sunlight, and for a moment, I saw a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
Then, she knelt before me, her face inches from mine.
I noticed the frustration and hope in her eyes.
Before I could react, she grabbed my collar and pulled me into a kiss that burned with magic.
As her lips part from mine, a tingling sensation spreads from the kiss through my entire body.
It's as if a thousand sparks ignite beneath my skin, leaving a trail of warmth in their wake.
I look down at my left hand, and strange runes etch themselves into my flesh, burning like a hot brand.
The foreign words being spoken around me gradually transform from gibberish into clear sentences.
"The familiar contract is complete," the balding professor announces, his voice filled with a mix of surprise and curiosity.
I flex my fingers, feeling an unusual lightness and vigor in my muscles.
It's as if I've been infused with a newfound energy, one that resonates with the magic of this world.
Louise stands up, brushing off her skirt with shaking hands.
Her cheeks are flushed pink, and her eyes hold a mixture of confusion and determination.
She turns to me and says something in her native language, but to my astonishment, I understand every word perfectly.
"Get up, familiar," she commands, her voice firm despite the slight tremble in her voice.
I rise unsteadily to my feet, still trying to process everything that has happened.
The courtyard is surrounded by ancient stone walls, with intricate carvings depicting scenes of magical battles and mythical creatures.
The air is filled with a faint scent of old parchment and the distant sound of chanting echoes through the halls.
Floating crystals suspended in mid-air emit a soft glow, casting an ethereal light over the entire scene.
Students in medieval uniforms hurry past us, their faces filled with curiosity and suspicion.
It's clear that I don't belong here, but I have no idea where "here" is or how I got here.
Louise grabs my hand and starts dragging me toward a cluster of buildings that resemble dormitories.
"Wait!"
I exclaim, digging my heels into the ground and resisting her pull.
She turns to face me, her eyes narrowing in annoyance.
"What is it?" she demands impatiently.
I take a deep breath and ask the question that has been plaguing me since I arrived in this strange new world. "Where exactly am I? What year is this?"
Louise pauses, looking at me with a mixture of frustration and confusion.
"You're in Tristain Academy of Magic in the kingdom of Halkeginia," she states matter-of-factly.
"Now come along, familiar."
I remain rooted to the spot, refusing to budge until I get more answers.
"But how did I get here?" I press on, my voice filled with desperation.
"I'm from modern Japan. How did I cross over into this...this medieval fantasy world?"
Louise's face reddens with anger and embarrassment as she realizes that I'm not going to follow her obediently without some explanation.
"Through my summoning spell," she admits, her voice barely above a whisper, "I brought you here."
