and then the mean girls came in the bathroom and then they dragged me outside in the hallway and then ms maria and ms janet saw me crying on the bench and then ms maria sat down right next to me and ms janet sat down right next to me too and then ms maria told me what was wrong with me and then I told her that the mean girls were bullying me in the bathroom.
She told me it was going to be okay and not to cry anymore because she was here for me and then ms janet also told me that everything was going to be okay.
She also told me not to cry anymore because she was here for me too and then she gave a big hug and then ms sue came and then ms Daniela came.
They both gave me a big hug and then they told me to go ahead and cry if I wanted to because I was in a safe place and then ms sue told me that I should tell my mom about the mean girls who were bullying me in the bathroom so I could get protection from them.
I said okay mom, I will tell her about the mean girls and then ms Daniela told me that I should always remember that I was a sweet girl and that I had lots of people who loved and cared for me.
She told me that I was protected and safe now.
Ms. Sue Johnson and Ms. Daniela Rodriguez were so sweet; you should meet them, Mom.
They are very kindhearted and understanding.
They gave lots of hugs and they took good care of me.
The Kindness of Teachers
I leaned into Ms. Sue's embrace as fresh tears streamed down my face.
The soft fabric of her cotton sweater felt good against my cheek.
Ms. Daniela wrapped her arms around both of us, creating a protective circle.
My shoulders shook as I released the fear and hurt from the bathroom incident.
Through my tears, I noticed Ms. Maria pulling a tissue from her pocket while Ms. Janet retrieved a small fleece blanket from her classroom.
They draped it over my shoulders as I continued crying.
The gentle weight of the blanket and their warm hugs helped slow my breathing.
"Sweetheart, have you ever talked to anyone about how this makes you feel?" Ms. Maria asked softly.
"No, I just try to ignore it and hope it goes away," I admitted, my voice barely a whisper.
Ms. Janet looked at me with concern, "Ignoring it won't make it stop, dear; we need to find a way to make them understand that their behavior is not okay."
The Kindness of Teachers
I watched as the tears began to slow, my shoulders still shaking beneath the blanket Ms. Janet had wrapped around me.
The Kindness of Teachers
The Kindness of Teachers
The fluorescent lights overhead cast shadows on my face as I wiped my eyes with the tissue Ms. Maria had given me.
Ms. Sue gently rubbed my back while Ms. Daniela knelt in front of me, speaking softly.
"You're so brave for talking about this with us. Remember, you're not alone, and we're here to support you."
As they continued to comfort me, their words and presence steadied my breathing.
The Kindness of Teachers
I looked up at Ms. Janet, who had been holding my hand throughout our conversation.
Her reassuring grip reminded me that I was finally ready to stand up for myself.
I noticed Lily's shoulders start trembling again as the memories of the bullying incident resurfaced.
She turned to Ms. Janet, who opened her arms without hesitation.
Lily collapsed into the embrace, her small frame shaking with fresh sobs.
Ms. Janet cradled her close, gently stroking her hair while murmuring words of comfort.
The rest of us formed a protective circle around them, watching as Lily clutched Ms. Janet's cardigan.
The Kindness of Teachers
Through her tears, she managed to whisper "thank you" between shaky breaths.
The Kindness of Teachers
As Lily's shoulders shook with another wave of tears, Ms. Janet wrapped her arms around the small girl, pulling her closer.
The soft fabric of Ms. Janet's blue cardigan muffled Lily's quiet sobs as she pressed her face against it.
Ms. Janet's gentle hands moved in slow circles on Lily's back, whispering "It's okay, sweetheart" over and over.
The hallway remained quiet except for the sound of Lily's uneven breathing and occasional sniffles.
Slowly, Lily's crying began to subside, her fingers still tightly clutching Ms. Janet's cardigan.
As her breathing steadied, those fingers relaxed their grip.
With a deep, shuddering breath, Lily pulled back slightly to look up at Ms. Janet's face.
Without hesitation, she wrapped her arms around Ms. Janet's neck in a proper hug, squeezing tightly as if to convey everything she couldn't say in words.
Ms. Janet hugged her back just as tightly, the fluorescent lights above flickering as they held each other.

I stepped forward, wrapping my arms around both Ms. Janet and Lily.

Ms. Sue joined in as well, adding her own warmth to the group hug.
Lily remained nestled against Ms. Janet's cardigan, but one small hand reached out to hold onto my sleeve.
The Kindness of Teachers
The hum of the fluorescent lights above us was the only sound as we stood there in the empty hallway, our embrace forming a protective circle around this brave young student.

I reached out first, opening my arms to Lily as she looked up from Ms. Janet's embrace.
Ms. Sue stepped closer on her other side, and the four of us formed a tight circle around her small frame.
Lily's hands grasped at my sweater as she leaned into our group hug, her breathing now steady and calm.
In that moment, we became her safe haven.
Slowly, Lily pulled back from our group embrace, her eyes still glistening but now shining with determination.
She turned to Ms. Sue first, wrapping her small arms around her waist while Ms. Sue bent down to return the hug properly.
Next, she approached Ms. Janet, who knelt down to receive her.
Lily held onto her for a long moment before releasing her and moving on to me.
Reaching up with both arms, she threw them around my neck in a tight hug.
The Kindness of Teachers
I could feel her shoulders starting to shake again, fresh tears welling up in her eyes.
Ms. Janet must have noticed too, as she immediately opened her arms and Lily fell into them once more.
This time, Lily buried her face in Ms. Janet's shoulder, her small hands clutching at the back of her cardigan.
Ms. Janet wrapped her arms protectively around Lily, gently swaying back and forth while whispering "It's okay, sweetheart."
The hallway remained quiet except for the occasional sniffle from Lily, held securely in Ms. Janet's embrace.
The Kindness of Teachers
Ms. Sue and I stood on either side of them, our arms wrapped around both Ms. Janet and Lily as we all shared a moment of mutual understanding and support.
The Kindness of Teachers
"Lily," Ms. Janet whispered softly, "do you want to tell us what happened today?"
Lily nodded slowly, her voice barely above a whisper, "I saw him again... the man from the park."
Ms. Sue's eyes widened as she exchanged a concerned glance with me, "Are you sure it was him, sweetheart?"
Lily nodded again, her body starting to shake as she collapsed back into Ms. Janet's arms.
Ms. Janet tightened her hold, pulling Lily closer as she buried her face in Ms. Janet's shoulder.
The Kindness of Teachers
Tears soaked through the soft fabric of Ms. Janet's cardigan while she stroked Lily's hair and murmured gentle reassurances.
The fluorescent lights overhead cast harsh shadows on the empty hallway, highlighting Lily's small fingers clutching desperately at Ms. Janet's sweater.
As I stepped closer, I heard Lily's muffled voice between sobs, trying to explain her fear about the man from the park.
The Kindness of Teachers
Ms. Janet's voice was calm but firm as she asked, "Did he say anything to you, Lily?"
Lily shook her head, her voice trembling, "No, but he just stood there watching me like before."
Ms. Sue placed a reassuring hand on Lily's back, "We'll make sure you're safe, and we'll talk to the police about this, okay?"
