I was just a girl, living in a world where humans were being experimented on by aliens.
I had no idea that my life was about to change dramatically.
Everything started a couple of days ago, when I woke up in an unknown room.
I was lying on a table, with wires and machines attached to my body.
I tried to move, but a sharp pain forced me to stop.
Suddenly, the door slid open and a figure walked in.
It was an alien, with long black eyes and a cold expression.
He approached me and began to scan my body.
After a few minutes, he inserted a syringe into my neck & took out a sample of my blood.
He then left the room without saying a word.
I tried to move again, but the pain was too intense.
I began to feel dizzy and eventually lost consciousness.
When I woke up the second time, the pain had almost disappeared.
The machines and wires were no longer attached to my body.
I tried to move and succeeded this time.
As I sat up, I noticed that the door was open.
I slowly got off the table and began to explore the room.
It was empty, with no signs of any objects or furniture.
The walls were made of metal and the door was made of glass.
I could see everything outside, but it didn't allow anyone from the outside to see in.
I walked to the door and looked around.
There were more rooms just like mine, all empty.
I didn't see any other humans, only aliens.
I walked to the wall and began to press my palms against it, searching for any clue.
The surface was smooth and cold, but there was a slight variation in temperature near the floor.
I crouched down and ran my fingers along the base of the wall, trying to find any irregularities.
As I moved my hand along the wall, I felt a slight variation in the surface.
It was a seam, barely noticeable.
It started at the bottom of the wall and extended up about two feet.
Drake stood in the doorway, keeping watch while I searched for any clues.
He had been guarding me since I escaped from the alien lab and we were now in a hidden room deep beneath the city.
I followed the seam with my fingers, trying to find its purpose.
It was smooth to the touch, almost too perfect.
There was no roughness or imperfections on its surface. As I reached the top of the seam, I noticed that it ended at a small discolored patch on the wall.
The patch was barely noticeable unless you were looking for it, but it seemed out of place compared to the rest of the wall's smooth surface.
I pressed on it gently, feeling resistance at first before it clicked into place.
The discolored patch slid open, revealing a small compartment.
Inside, there was old tech - circuit boards and wiring.
I carefully pulled them out, my hands shaking slightly from exhaustion.
Drake walked over to me and examined each piece.
His eyes widened as he picked up a familiar-looking device.
"This is military grade," he whispered, piecing the components together.
The dim light flickered as he worked, casting shadows across his face.
After several tense minutes of connecting wires, a soft blue light emanated from the assembled device.
Drake's fingers moved with practiced precision across its surface, inputting a sequence of numbers.
"Where did you learn to do that?" I asked, watching him with a mix of awe and suspicion.
Drake glanced up, his eyes meeting mine with a seriousness that made my heart skip.
"I used to be one of them," he admitted quietly, "before I realized what they were really planning."
