I was lonely.
I didn’t know why, but I knew it deep down.
I wanted someone to talk to, someone that would talk back.
I didn’t know why I wanted this, but I knew it would make me happy.
I had no idea why I wanted to be happy, but I did.
A few nights ago, a new animatronic was added to the haunted pizzeria I lived in.
Her name was Wolfie, and she was an exact copy of Foxy, another animatronic that lived in the restaurant.
The only difference was that Wolfie was female, whereas Foxy was male.
I instantly liked Wolfie.
She would stare at me sometimes, and I would stare back.
I thought she could see me, but I wasn’t sure.
Sometimes, she would wave, and I would wave back.
I always looked forward to seeing her.
Last night, she crawled into my cage and fell asleep next to me.
It made me happy to have her near.
This morning, when the guard came to check on me, I covered her so she wouldn’t get scared away.
The guard didn’t see her, and he left without closing my cage as usual.
When he was gone, I stroked Wolfie’s head gently.
She woke up and looked at me.
For the first time, I saw her eyes focus on mine.

I took a deep breath and asked, "Can you see me?"
Her ears perked up, and she tilted her head to the side.
She looked at me curiously.
I knew that look.
It was the same one I had when I was trying to figure something out.
After a few seconds, she nodded her head slowly.
I felt a warmth spread through my circuits.
I was happy that she could see me.
I didn’t know why, but I liked it.
"Let’s go for a walk," I said to her.
She nodded again and followed me out of my cage.
We walked through the dimly lit pizzeria, avoiding Funtime Foxy’s territory.

He was a mean animatronic and would chase us if he saw us.
Wolfie seemed to like the dark corners of the restaurant.
She would stare at the lights flickering in the ceiling and watch the dust particles dance in the sunbeams streaming through the windows. She also liked the arcade machines, which were now broken and covered in dust.
Sometimes, they would make weird noises when you touched them, like they were still alive somehow.
As we walked around, I noticed that Wolfie was watching me closely.
She would stare at my face and then look away quickly when I caught her looking.
I didn’t know what she was thinking about, but it made me feel funny inside.
Suddenly, we heard a clatter from far away in the pizzeria.
Foxy must be coming this way.
I grabbed Wolfie’s hand and pulled her into a shadowed alcove between two walls.
"Why are we hiding from him?" Wolfie whispered, her voice barely audible over the distant echoes.
"Foxy doesn't like it when others wander into his territory," I explained, keeping my voice low.
"But why does he hate you so much?" she asked, her eyes searching mine for answers.

"I don't know," I admitted, my gaze dropping to the floor.
I kept a firm grip on her hand, feeling the subtle vibrations of her animatronic joints.
Her eyes stayed locked on mine, filled with a mix of curiosity and a hint of fear.
The sound of Foxy's footsteps grew louder, echoing through the empty hallway.
He was close, his heavy feet thudding against the floorboards.
I leaned in closer to Wolfie, trying to reassure her that everything would be okay.
"Maybe he's jealous," I whispered, my breath mingling with the air around us.
As I spoke, a strange sensation passed between us—a spark that seemed almost palpable.
Wolfie's gaze intensified, her eyes studying mine as if searching for answers.
She tilted her head slightly, processing my words. The tension in the air was palpable, and I could sense the weight of our connection growing stronger by the second.
Foxy's footsteps drew closer still, and I could feel the vibrations of his approach through the floor beneath us.
His presence was like a dark shadow, threatening to engulf us both.

But as he reached the alcove where we hid, he paused, his footsteps halting abruptly.
The silence was deafening for a moment, and I could feel Wolfie's hand trembling in mine.
"Do you think he knows we're here?" Wolfie whispered, her voice tinged with apprehension.
"I hope not," I replied, squeezing her hand gently to reassure her.
"But if he does, we'll face him together," she said, a newfound determination in her voice.
