I am Tsuki Hikari.
I closed my heart so that I would not get hurt anymore.
I do not want to be hurt anymore, and I do not want to hurt anyone.
Since then I have changed.
I started to push people away from me.
"I am sorry Tsuki. It's over between us."
"Let's break up, Tsuki. I'm sorry."
"It's okay. I know you don't love me anymore. Sorry."
I saw him holding a bouquet of flowers and giving it to another girl.
He once said he loved me, but now he doesn’t.
It hurts so much.
"Tsuki! Wake up! It was all just a dream."
Kaito woke me up after crying on his shoulder.
"It's okay. Sorry."
I said to him after I realized it was just a dream.
"It's okay. Don't apologize. It's not your fault. You had a bad dream, right? Who was in your dream?"
He asked after he sat beside me in the classroom during the break with his funny tone.
"I don't know."
I lied to him.
I will not tell him about the guys who hurt me in my dreams every time I have a nightmare.
"You're lying! I know you well, Tsuki! Tell me who is it? Will I beat him up for you?"
He asked while he was trying to hide his laugh.
"It’s okay. It’s just an old guy."
I answered and looked at my book.
"Old? Did he hurt you?"
He asked seriously.
I just stared at my book without reading it.
I didn't want to talk about him.
I could feel Kaito's concerned gaze on me, but I didn't look at him.
The classroom was noisy because of the lunch break, but I just looked at my book without reading it.
Kaito leaned closer to me and whispered, "Tsuki, you know you can tell me anything, right? I'm your best friend. I will help you."
He said it with a serious face, not like his usual playful self.
My fingers traced the edge of the page.
That guy used to do that when we studied together.
"Tsuki!"
Hikaru entered the classroom with two cups of coffee in his hand.
He put one of them on my desk.
It was my favorite blend, just like every morning.
The aroma distracted me from my thoughts, and I looked up to see Hikaru smiling at me gently.
I gripped the warm cup, letting the familiar weight ground me in the present moment.
Hikaru stood beside my desk, his presence patient and undemanding as always.
My fingers traced the edge of the lid, struggling to lift my gaze to meet his.
The scent of caramel macchiato filled my senses, a comforting reminder of the world outside my memories.
Kaito watched from his seat, his earlier concern still visible on his face.
My throat felt tight, but I forced myself to lift my head and meet Hikaru's kind eyes.
"Tsuki, you know you can always talk to me about anything," Hikaru said softly, his voice steady and reassuring.
I hesitated, the words caught in my throat, before finally whispering, "It's just... sometimes the past feels too close."
Kaito leaned forward, his expression earnest as he added, "Then let's make sure your future is brighter, okay?"
