It was the year 2001 and I was living in New York city.
I was in high school and loved Karate.
There was only four girls in our Karate class and the rest were boys.
When we lined up to do the partner drills, I was happy thinking I would be paired with one of the other three girls.
But to my surprise and dismay, the instructor paired each of the four girls with a boy.
I was not happy at all and looked at my friend Lucia who was also paired with a boy.
We both looked at each other and shrugged our shoulders.
The boys were not happy either being paired with a girl, but they had no choice.
The instructor told us to start our drills, and we did.
Each boy thought it was cool being paired with a girl and started showing off his moves.
But what they didn't know was that each of the four girls, including myself, were determined to show them up.
We took turns doing our drills perfectly and then stepped back as our partner did theirs.
But then it was my turn again, and I didn't want to do just kicks and punches like everyone else.
The Girl Power Revolution
As the partner carry drill began, I watched as Lanna stepped forward first.
She faced her partner, who was taller than her, and braced herself.
I could see the determination in her eyes as she squatted down and wrapped her arms around his legs.
With a grunt, she lifted him up onto her shoulders, and the class fell into stunned silence.
I exchanged a quick glance with Lucia, both of us ready to follow suit.
Lanna took a few steady steps across the dojo, her movements firm and deliberate.
"Did you see that?" Lucia whispered, her eyes wide with admiration.
"Yeah," I replied, feeling a surge of inspiration, "I think it's time we show them what we can really do."
Lucia nodded, a determined grin spreading across her face, "Let's make sure they never underestimate us again."
The Girl Power Revolution
I stepped forward, approaching my taller partner.
The class watched with bated breath as I positioned myself in front of him.
I bent my knees, gripped his legs firmly, and took a deep breath.
With a swift motion, I hoisted him onto my shoulders.
His weight was heavy, but my resolve was heavier.
Step by step, I carried him across the dojo, my muscles straining but holding firm.
The room was silent except for the sound of my footsteps echoing off the walls.
Finally, I reached the other side and gently set him down on his feet.
The Girl Power Revolution
I watched as Lucia stepped forward, her eyes locked on her partner.
She approached him with confidence, her movements deliberate.
Without hesitation, she grabbed his legs, took a deep breath, and lifted him onto her shoulders.
The room held its breath as she steadied herself under his weight.
Lucia's face showed determination as she walked across the dojo, each step firm and purposeful.
The silence was broken only by her footsteps.
When she reached the other side, she gently set him down, proving her strength and resolve.
I turned to my partner, who was still catching his breath from the carry.
With a determined look in my eyes, I offered him my back.
It was time to show that we were more than just capable; we were strong and resilient.
He glanced around the room, seemingly stunned by the turn of events, before slowly complying.
Wrapping his arms around my neck, he climbed onto my back, and I steadied myself under his weight.
Taking a deep breath, I began walking back across the dojo.
Each step was firm and deliberate, and the room remained silent except for the sound of my footsteps.
As I carried him, I could feel something hard pressing against my back.
I chose to ignore it, focusing solely on my steps.
The weight of my partner seemed to grow heavier, his breathing becoming more labored.
But I refused to falter, keeping my pace steady and determined.
The room remained silent, all eyes fixed on us as we crossed the dojo.
The Girl Power Revolution
As I neared the finish line, I felt a sudden warmth spreading across my back.
It was then that I realized my partner had c###d.
Despite the unexpected turn of events, I didn't break my stride.
I completed the drill, setting him down firmly on his feet before turning to face the class with a stoic expression.
After the class, I noticed a w#t spot on my partner's pants.
He looked at me, his face flushed with embarrassment.
"I'm sorry," he whispered, his voice filled with regret.
I shrugged it off, not wanting to make a big deal out of it.
"It's okay," I replied, my voice steady.
As we gathered our things, he approached me again.
"Hey," he said, his voice filled with sincerity.
"I'm Jake. I wanted to thank you for carrying me across the dojo. You're really strong."
I smiled, appreciating his genuine compliment.
"Thanks, Jake. It was no problem."
He paused for a moment, then asked, "Would you like to go out on a date sometime?"
I was taken aback by his request, but I considered it for a moment before nodding in agreement.
The Girl Power Revolution
"Sure, that sounds great."
The Girl Power Revolution
After class, Lucia approached us with a bright smile.
"Hey guys, I couldn't help but notice how well you worked together. I was thinking, maybe we could all go on a double date sometime?"
I glanced at Jake, who seemed intrigued by the idea.
"That sounds like fun," he replied, turning to me.
"What do you think?"
I nodded in agreement.
"Sure, that sounds great."
Lucia clapped her hands excitedly.
"Awesome! How about Friday night? We could meet at that new diner downtown."
We agreed to meet at the diner on Friday night and exchanged numbers before parting ways.
As we walked out of the dojo, I noticed the other boys whispering and looking at us with newfound respect.
Lucia's suggestion had brought us closer together, and it felt like the start of something special.
The Girl Power Revolution
As we stepped into the cool evening air, I realized that strength wasn't just about physical prowess; it was about embracing unexpected moments and forging connections.
The Girl Power Revolution
We walked into the downtown diner, the smell of fries and burgers filling the air.
Lucia and her date, Mark, were already seated in a booth near the back.
Jake pulled out a chair for me, and we settled in across from them.
I ordered a milkshake while Jake opted for a burger.
As we waited for our food, Lucia leaned in and whispered to me, "I heard you two did great on the drills. I'm glad my suggestion worked out."
I smiled, nodding in agreement.
As Jake and Mark got up to go to the bathroom, I leaned in closer to Lucia.
I lowered my voice and told her about the unexpected incident with Jake during the piggyback drill in Karate class.
Lucia's eyes widened as I described how Jake c###d on my back while I carried him across the dojo.
She listened intently, her expression shifting from surprise to understanding.
I explained how I handled it calmly afterward, and Lucia nodded, impressed by my composure.
The Girl Power Revolution
As we continued our conversation, a friendly waitress approached our table to refill our drinks.
She overheard the end of my story and chuckled.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't help but overhear," she said with a smile.
"I've seen something similar happen at my dojo once."
Lucia and I exchanged curious glances, intrigued by her comment.
The waitress leaned in, lowering her voice.
"There was this one girl who was sparring with a much larger guy. She didn't realize her own strength and ended up knocking him out cold."
We listened intently as the waitress continued her story.
"His name was Jake, and hers was Sarah. They were both in the same class, but she was much smaller than him. During sparring, she got him in a chokehold and didn't realize how tight it was until he passed out."
Lucia and I exchanged glances, our curiosity piqued.
The waitress continued, "She had to carry him to the clinic next to the dojo. It was quite a sight to see her struggling to lift him."
We nodded, imagining the scene.
The Girl Power Revolution
The waitress continued, "She managed to get him into a position where she could lift him. She got under his body and used her legs and core to hoist him onto her back."
Lucia and I exchanged glances, impressed by the girl's strength.
The waitress finished her story as she placed our milkshakes on the table.
I glanced at her nametag as she walked away, noticing it read "Sarah."
Lucia and I exchanged surprised looks, realizing the coincidence.
We watched Sarah serve other tables, noticing how confident and strong she moved.
I leaned closer to Lucia, whispering, "Can you believe it? She's the same Sarah from the story."
Lucia nodded, equally amazed by the coincidence.
The Girl Power Revolution
As we sipped our milkshakes, Sarah returned to our table to check on us.
I couldn't resist asking her if she was indeed the Sarah from the dojo story.
She smiled, confirming it was her.
As she told us more about her experience with Jake, I noticed the boys returning to our table.
I watch Jake and Mark return from the bathroom, when suddenly Jake's foot catches on an uneven floorboard.
He stumbles forward, arms flailing, and crashes hard onto his knee.
Mark quickly helps him up while other diners turn to stare.
Jake winces as he slides into the booth beside me, rubbing his knee.
We finish our burgers and shakes, making light conversation, though I notice Jake barely touches his food.
The Girl Power Revolution
When we leave the diner for our planned walk, Jake tries to hide it, but I see him favoring his left leg.
I walk close to him as we head down the sidewalk, watching his uneven steps.
His face tenses each time he puts weight on his left leg, though he tries to mask it with forced smiles.
When we reach a crosswalk, I see him grip the streetlight pole for support while waiting for the light to change.
The swelling around his knee is visible now through his jeans.
Lucia and Mark walk ahead, oblivious to Jake's struggle.
The Girl Power Revolution
I touch his arm gently and suggest we should get his knee checked out.
I tell Lucia and Mark about Jake's injury as we walk down the sidewalk.
Jake leans on me for support, his limp more pronounced with each step.
Lucia looks concerned and suggests we find a nearby clinic.
Mark nods in agreement, offering to help Jake walk.
We turn at the next corner, searching for a medical center.
The Girl Power Revolution
Jake grimaces with every step, his knee visibly swollen through his jeans.
I keep my arm around him, guiding him gently.
We spot a clinic sign ahead and quicken our pace.
I remember Sarah's story about carrying an injured guy to the clinic, and I realize I need to do the same for Jake.
Without hesitation, I bend down and scoop Jake up in my arms, one arm under his knees and the other supporting his back.
He gasps in surprise but doesn't resist.
Lucia's eyes widen as she watches me lift Jake's full weight.
I adjust my stance and start walking steadily toward the clinic, careful not to jostle his injured knee.
The Girl Power Revolution
Jake's face turns red, but he wraps his arms around my neck for stability.
I carry Jake toward the clinic, his arms wrapped around my neck.
As we move, I feel him shift uncomfortably against me.
His breathing quickens, and I sense a change in his posture.
Jake's face turns redder, and I realize he has an erection.
I keep my eyes forward, focusing on walking steadily without acknowledging it.
The Girl Power Revolution
Lucia and Mark walk ahead, unaware of the situation.
I adjust my grip to ensure Jake's comfort, maintaining a calm demeanor as we approach the clinic's entrance.
I push through the glass doors with Jake still in my arms, scanning the waiting room.
It's empty, with only a few rows of blue plastic chairs under the harsh fluorescent lights.
I navigate between them carefully, Jake's grip around my neck tightening slightly as I move.
His breathing is still uneven against my shoulder.
I can feel the hard press of his e###n against my side, but I keep my expression neutral, focusing on finding the best spot to set him down.
Lucia holds a chair steady while I slowly bend my knees, careful not to jar Jake's injured knee.
I lower him into the seat, and his face flushes even more.
"Thanks," Jake mutters, avoiding eye contact as he adjusts himself in the chair.
Lucia glances between us, her brow furrowed with curiosity.
"Is everything okay?" she asks, her voice laced with concern and a hint of suspicion.
The Girl Power Revolution
I sit down in the chair next to Jake, my heart pounding in my chest.
My face feels hot with embarrassment and confusion.
I force a calm smile, hoping to reassure her.
"Everything's fine," I say, trying to keep my voice steady.
"I just need to get Jake checked out."
Lucia nods, but her eyes linger on us for a moment longer before she turns away.
Mark stands nearby, watching us with a mixture of concern and curiosity.
Jake shifts in the chair, his face still flushed.
He avoids looking at me, his gaze fixed on the floor.
I reach out and gently touch his arm, trying to break the awkward silence between us.
"Are you okay?" I ask softly, my voice barely above a whisper.
Jake nods, his jaw clenched tightly.
The Girl Power Revolution
"It's just a little uncomfortable," he mumbles, his voice strained.
I glance down at his knee, which is still visibly swollen through his jeans.
"You should try to stay off of it as much as possible," I say gently, trying to shift the focus away from the awkward moment we just shared.
Jake nods again, wincing slightly as he shifts in the chair.
Lucia and Mark stand nearby, watching us with concerned expressions on their faces. I reach out and take Jake's hand in mine, giving it a gentle squeeze.
"We'll get you all fixed up," I say softly, trying to reassure him.
Jake looks up at me, his eyes filled with gratitude and something else I can't quite place.
"Thanks," he says quietly, his voice filled with emotion.
I hold his gaze for a moment longer before looking away, feeling a mix of confusion and uncertainty wash over me.
We sit there in silence for a few minutes, waiting for the doctor to call us back into the exam room.
The Girl Power Revolution
I help Jake stand as the nurse calls his name, supporting his weight as we walk down the hallway.
His arm drapes over my shoulder, and he winces with each step.
I keep my grip firm, guiding him carefully as we make our way to the exam room.
The nurse holds the door open for us, and I help Jake onto the examination table.
He thanks me quietly, still avoiding eye contact.
I step back, watching as the nurse begins to assess his knee.
The Girl Power Revolution
She takes his vitals and asks him a few questions about the injury, her voice soft and gentle.
Jake answers in short sentences, his voice strained with pain.
I stand beside him, my hand gripping his tightly as he speaks.
The nurse nods sympathetically, jotting down some notes on his chart before stepping out of the room.
We wait in silence for a few minutes until the doctor enters.
She's a middle-aged woman with kind eyes and a warm smile.
She introduces herself and begins examining Jake's knee, her hands moving gently over the swollen area.
Jake winces as she touches the tender spot, and I squeeze his hand in response.
"Does that hurt?" she asks softly, her brow furrowed with concern.
Jake nods, his jaw clenched tightly.
The doctor continues her examination, asking Jake questions about the injury and his symptoms.
He answers in short sentences, his voice filled with pain and frustration.
The Girl Power Revolution
I stay quiet, watching the doctor's movements carefully as she assesses Jake's knee. She asks him to bend it slightly, wincing as he does so.
Her eyes narrow as she examines the area more closely, her fingers probing gently at the swollen skin.
Jake flinches slightly, his grip on my hand tightening as she touches the tender spot.
The doctor glances up at me briefly, her eyes filled with sympathy and understanding.
I offer her a small smile in return, trying to reassure her that we're okay.
She turns her attention back to Jake's knee, continuing her examination with gentle but precise movements.
After a few minutes, she finishes her assessment and steps back from the examination table.
The Girl Power Revolution
"I'm going to take a look at something," she says softly, her eyes focused on Jake's knee.
She leans forward slightly, her fingers tracing the outline of an old scar on his knee.
"This look familiar to you?" she asks quietly, glancing up at Jake briefly before returning her attention to the scar.
Jake remains silent, his grip on my hand tightening as she speaks.
The doctor continues to examine the scar, her fingers moving gently over the raised skin.
She looks up at me again, her eyes filled with concern and curiosity.
"Is this related to the injury he has now?" she asks softly, her voice filled with uncertainty.
I glance down at Jake, watching as he shifts uncomfortably in his seat.
He avoids looking at me, his gaze fixed on the floor as he mumbles a response.
"It's from an old accident," he says quietly, his voice strained with emotion.
The doctor nods, her expression thoughtful.
"An old accident?" she repeats, her voice gentle yet probing.
Jake finally meets my eyes, a flicker of vulnerability crossing his face.
The Girl Power Revolution
"Yes," he says softly, his voice barely above a whisper.
The doctor nods again, her gaze returning to the scar.
"I see," she murmurs, her voice filled with understanding.
She turns her attention back to Jake's knee, examining the swollen area more closely.
After a few moments, she steps back and turns to face us.
"I'm going to prescribe some pain medication and recommend physical therapy to help with the healing process," she explains softly, her eyes focused on Jake's knee.
Jake nods, his expression relieved as he listens to the doctor's words.
The doctor continues to explain the treatment plan, answering any questions Jake may have about his injury and the recovery process.
I listen intently, my hand still gripping Jake's tightly as he speaks.
As the doctor finishes speaking, I help Jake stand from the examination table and guide him back to the waiting room.
We gather our things and prepare to leave, Jake's arm still draped over my shoulder for support. As we approach the exit, I pause and turn to face him.
"Let me carry you home," I offer softly, my voice filled with concern.
The Girl Power Revolution
Jake hesitates for a moment before nodding in agreement.
I bend down slightly, preparing to lift him into my arms when a familiar voice interrupts us.
"Wait," Lucia says firmly, stepping forward from behind us.
I glance up at her in surprise, noticing the determined look in her eyes as she approaches us.
"What are you doing?" she asks softly, her gaze fixed on Jake's injured knee.
I open my mouth to respond but Lucia cuts me off before I can speak.
"You're exhausted," she says firmly, her voice filled with concern as she glances at me briefly before turning her attention back to Jake.
"I'll carry him home."
Jake looks between us uncertainly, his expression a mix of confusion and gratitude. I nod in understanding, realizing that Lucia is right.
I am exhausted from earlier and carrying Jake home would only make matters worse.
Lucia steps forward and gently lifts Jake into her arms, cradling him against her chest as if he were a child.
Jake wraps his arms around her neck instinctively, his expression filled with relief as Lucia begins walking towards the exit.
The Girl Power Revolution
I watch as Lucia carries Jake towards the exit, his arms wrapped tightly around her neck.
Mark stands beside me, his eyes fixed on Lucia and Jake.
His jaw clenches as he watches them, clearly uneasy with the situation.
I shift my weight uncomfortably, my legs tired from earlier.
Lucia's steps are steady and confident as she carries Jake through the clinic doors.
Jake's face is still red from the injury but his expression is one of gratitude as he looks down at Lucia.
Mark finally turns to look at me, his eyes filled with tension.
The Girl Power Revolution
"We should follow them," he says softly, his voice filled with concern.
I nod in agreement, following behind Lucia and Jake as they exit the clinic.
The automatic doors slide open slowly, revealing a bright light that fills the room.
I reach out to hold the door open for them, allowing Lucia to pass through with ease.
She adjusts her grip on Jake slightly, making sure his knee doesn't bump against anything.
Jake's face remains flushed but he doesn't make a sound as Lucia carries him through the doorway.
Mark stands beside me, his eyes fixed on Lucia and Jake as they make their way outside.
I can feel the weight of the day's events bearing down on me, my legs tired from earlier.
"Why did you step in like that, Lucia?" Mark asks, his voice tinged with a mix of curiosity and frustration.
Lucia glances back at him, her expression calm but resolute.
"Because sometimes people need help, even when they don't ask for it," she replies softly, her eyes briefly meeting Jake's before focusing ahead.
The Girl Power Revolution
Mark falls silent, his gaze following Lucia and Jake as they approach the car.
I watch as Lucia carefully lowers Jake onto the back seat, making sure not to jostle his injured knee.
Jake's face is still flushed from earlier, but his eyes remain fixed on Lucia with a mixture of gratitude and concern.
"Thank you," he says softly, his voice barely above a whisper.
Lucia nods quietly, her expression gentle but firm as she adjusts Jake's position in the seat.
Mark stands beside me, his jaw clenched tightly as he watches the scene unfold.
I lean against the car, my eyes fixed on Jake's face as he settles into the backseat.
"Lucia, why do you always put yourself out there like this?" Mark asks, his voice a mix of admiration and frustration.
"Because I know what it's like to feel alone," Lucia replies, her eyes meeting his with a quiet intensity.
Jake shifts slightly, looking between them. "I guess we all have our reasons for doing what we do."
The Girl Power Revolution
I drive the rental car with Mark sitting beside me in the passenger seat.
Lucia and Jake are in the backseat, with Jake's knee propped up slightly.
Occasionally, he winces in discomfort, but Lucia gently adjusts his leg to make him more comfortable.
Mark stares out the window, his jaw still tense from our earlier conversation.
I keep my focus on the road, navigating through the evening traffic of New York City.
The silence in the car is thick, punctuated only by the soft sounds of Jake's occasional discomfort.
As we approach a stoplight, I glance in the rearview mirror to see Lucia whispering something to Jake, who nods slightly in response.
The Girl Power Revolution
I drive through the crowded streets of New York City, the car filled with tense silence.
Jake winces in the backseat as Lucia gently adjusts his injured knee.
Mark sits beside me, his jaw still clenched, clearly bothered by the fact that Lucia had to carry Jake out of the clinic.
At a red light, I glance in the mirror to see Lucia whispering to Jake, who nods slightly in response.
The light turns green, and I continue driving, my eyes fixed on the road ahead.
Finally, we pull up to Jake's apartment building.
I park the car and turn off the engine, then step out onto the sidewalk.
Lucia helps Jake out of the backseat, supporting him as he limps towards the entrance of his building.
I follow behind them, unlocking the door with my key.
As we step inside, Mark finally breaks the silence.
"His parent is probably waiting for us," he says softly, his voice tinged with a mix of concern and guilt.
I nod in agreement, unlocking the door to Jake's apartment.
As we step inside, Jake's parent looks up from the living room, their expression filled with worry.
"Jake, what happened?" they ask, noticing his limp as he enters the room.
Lucia helps Jake sit down on the couch before answering.
"He got into an accident at the diner and had to go to the clinic," she explains calmly.
Jake's parent looks between us, their expression filled with concern.
"Is everything okay?" they ask, glancing at Mark's tense face.
Mark nods quietly, his jaw still clenched as he watches Jake settle into the couch.
Lucia explains the situation at the diner and how she carried Jake out of the clinic.
The Girl Power Revolution
Jake's parent listens intently, occasionally glancing at Mark's tight expression.
When Lucia finishes speaking, Jake's parent thanks her for helping Jake and asks him about his knee.
Jake mumbles a response, his face still flushed from earlier. "Would you like some tea?" Jake's parent asks, looking between us.
I nod in agreement, taking a seat on the couch next to Jake.
I nod in response, taking a seat on the couch beside Mark.
Lucia smiles politely but doesn't sit down, her eyes fixed on Jake's injured knee.
Mark shifts uncomfortably beside me, his jaw still tense.
Jake's parent disappears into the kitchen, returning with a tray of steaming cups.
"Thank you," I say, taking a cup and sipping the warm liquid.
Mark nods in response, his eyes fixed on his own cup.
Jake's parent hands Lucia a cup before sitting down in a chair across from us.
"So, Lucia, how long have you been dating Jake?" they ask, their expression curious.
My stomach knots at their question, but I keep my expression neutral.
Lucia glances at Jake briefly before responding.
The Girl Power Revolution
"Oh, we're not dating," she says softly, her voice tinged with surprise.
Jake's face turns even redder as he looks between Lucia and his parent.
Mark's jaw clenches tighter beside me. "Oh, I'm sorry," Jake's parent says, looking embarrassed.
"I just assumed since you were helping him so much."
Lucia smiles politely, her eyes fixed on her tea cup.
"It's okay," she says softly.
"I understand why you would think that."
Jake's parent continues talking about their day at work while I sip my tea quietly.
Mark remains silent beside me, his eyes fixed on his own cup.
Occasionally, I glance at Jake's flushed face or Lucia's calm expression as she supports his injured knee.
The Girl Power Revolution
After a while, Mark stands up abruptly and excuses himself to the bathroom.
I excuse myself from the living room and walk down the dim hallway where Mark disappeared.
His footsteps echo ahead as he paces near the bathroom door.
When I approach, he stops and leans against the wall, his eyes avoiding mine.
The awkward silence stretches between us as I search for the right words to say.
Before I can speak, Mark's shoulders tense up.
He turns to face me, his jaw clenched tightly.
"Why did you let Lucia carry Jake out of the clinic?" he asks, his voice filled with hurt.
I pause, taken aback by his question.
"She insisted," I reply, trying to keep my voice steady.
Mark shakes his head, frustration evident in his eyes.
The Girl Power Revolution
"It's not just about that," he says, his voice softening slightly.
