Hello, my name is Jayda Brown.
I'm 5''6'' and my zodiac is Gemini.
I have two best friends, Max Benton and Aiden Washington.
I think I'm falling for both of them, but I don't know how to tell them.
I don't want them to think I'm weird or anything.
Max Benton
He has green eyes with his black hair.
He's 6''0'' and his zodiac is Scorpio.
He's been my best friend since we were kids.
We grew up together and we shared the same bed together.
Not only that, we took a bath together too.
We are so close that people think we're dating, but we're not.
He's so confident and he's very loyal to me.
I feel so safe when he's around and I got this feeling that I want to be his forever.
Aiden Washington
He has dreads and he's dark skin.
He's 5''9'' and his zodiac is Virgo.
I met him when I was in middle school and now we are in high school.
He's so gentle and he's always looking out for me.
He never pushes me to talk about my feelings, but he always knows when I'm down or sad.
He always makes me laugh even though he's shy, but not to me.
I feel so comfortable around him even though he doesn't say much.
The Gemini Girl
I'm sitting at my desk in my room, staring at two blank pieces of paper.
It's 12:30 am and I'm still awake.
I'm trying to think of what to say in the letters that I want to write to Max and Aiden.
I've been thinking about this for a while now and I'm still not sure about it.
I'm picking up my pen and it's shaking in my hand.
I take a deep breath and start writing.
"Dear Max..."
I write on one piece of paper and "Dear Aiden..." on the other.
The words start flowing out easier than I expected once I started writing.
I'm writing about all the good times we've had together, like the time we took a bath together when we were younger.
The Gemini Girl
We were so innocent back then.
We were just kids who were best friends, but now it's different.
I've developed feelings for him over the years and I can't imagine being with anyone else. "Max, you make me feel safe and protected. You always know how to make me laugh even though you can be annoying sometimes. Your confidence is one of the things that I love most about you. It's so sexy when you're around me. I feel like I can be myself around you without being judged."
I write on the first piece of paper, tears falling from my eyes, smudging the ink.
"Dear Aiden, you are so gentle with me. You always know how to make me feel better when I'm sad or down. You don't push me to talk about things that I'm not ready to talk about. You're always quiet and shy, but that's what makes you different from everyone else. When we're together, everything is so quiet and peaceful. You make my heart skip a beat every time you look at me."
I write on the other piece of paper as tears fall from my eyes smudging the ink.
Halfway through writing both letters, I stop for a minute because they're making me cry.
I look at them and wonder what would happen if they read them.
Would they judge me?
Would they think that I'm weird?
The Gemini Girl
Would they stop talking to me?
Would they stop being my best friends?
All these questions are going through my head right now as I stare at their names on both pieces of paper.
I fold the letters, seal them in envelopes, and place them gently on my desk, knowing tomorrow will change everything.
After finishing the letters, I can't sleep.
I decide to clean my desk drawers to distract myself.
I open the top drawer and pull out all the things that are in it, like my pens, pencils, markers, and my calculator.
I put them on my desk and look inside the drawer.
There's nothing in it but dust.
I close the top drawer and open the second one.
It's a mess too.
There are old birthday cards and dried-up pens.
I pull everything out of it and throw it in the trash can beside my desk.
I'm about to close the drawer when I see something in the back of it.
The Gemini Girl
It's a crumpled lottery ticket.
I pull it out and smooth it down with my hand.
It's from last month, but I don't remember buying it.
Then I remember that Dad used to play these numbers all the time before he died. He would play Mom's birthday, the day they met, and my birth year.
I pick up my phone and pull up the lottery website to check the numbers.
Dad used to check them every Wednesday night after dinner was over.
He would sit at his desk in his office and check them online while Mom sat on the couch watching TV.
"Jayda, why are you up so late?" Aiden's voice startled me from the doorway.
"I couldn't sleep," I replied, trying to hide the envelopes with my hand.
"Is everything okay? You look like you've seen a ghost," Max added, stepping into the room with concern etched on his face.
