Caleb
understanding, and supportive. Caleb remains close to Ethan despite his physical change and continues to encourage him to embrace his uniqueness. He introduces Ethan to the quadruped community and assures him of their acceptance. Caleb's transformation from a normalappearing individual to a quadruped creates a bond between them, allowing them to connect on a deeper level.
Draven

His maturity and life experience make him an invaluable asset to the group, and he warmly welcomes Ethan into their circle with open arms.
I walked up the steps to my best friend's house.
He had gone through with trying the fad that was big with the guys right now.
It worked for him.
All my other friends had gone through with it as well.
It had not worked for me.
What if it does not work for me?
What if I am different?
What if he does not want to be friends anymore?
I stopped before I reached his door.
I took some deep breaths.
I was being ridiculous.
This was my best friend.
He would never do that to me.
He cared about me.
All my friends did.
It had just been a week since I tried it.
I gave it time.
It took time.
It just takes a little longer for me, that is all.
I raised my hand to knock on the door and heard it open.
"Hey, man," Caleb greeted me as he opened the door.
He smiled widely at me, but I could not take my eyes off his new legs.
He had four of them!
They looked like human male legs, but he had four, and then he had four human feet!
He was naked, as all my other friends were who had gone through with this.
I felt myself blushing.
"It's okay, man, you're still our friend," he said, as if he knew exactly what I was thinking of.
"Hey, Caleb," I greeted him back.
He gestured for me to come in.
I followed him into his living room.
Nate, Ryker, and Draven were lounging on cushions scattered across the floor.
Their sixteen legs stretched out in different directions.
Some of them were bent at the knees, while others were straight out.
Their bare feet occasionally shifted or flexed.
I stood awkwardly by the doorway, counting their legs.
Four per person, times four people.
Sixteen legs in total.
My eyes darted from one set of legs to another.
They all seemed so relaxed with their new limbs.
Nate waved me over to an empty cushion next to him, but I could not move.
Nate noticed my hesitation and patted the cushion next to him.
"Come on, they're just legs," he said casually, draping one of his back legs over Ryker's front ones.
Caleb settled down on the large floor cushion next to Draven.
The four of them had their legs intertwined.
I watched as they shifted and adjusted without any awkwardness.
Their legs and feet were all over each other, but it was like second nature to them.
Ryker stretched his back legs across Nate's lap while they continued their conversation about weekend plans.
My anxiety slowly ebbed away as I watched them.
Finally, I took a step forward and sat down on the empty cushion next to Nate.
I realized that maybe, just maybe, I could belong here too.
