I still remember the day I first saw him.
It was the first day of school and I was walking down the hallway, trying to find my locker.
I was a little shy and nervous because I didn't know where anything was yet.
As I was looking at my schedule, trying to figure out where my next class was, I bumped into someone.
I looked up and apologized, still feeling a little awkward.
That's when I saw him.
He had given me my books that I was carrying, and he was smiling at me.
His smile could stop a clock; I swear.
I felt like I was frozen in time.
He had the most gorgeous blue eyes and perfect jaw line.
His dark hair was messy, but in a sexy way.
He was tall and had broad shoulders.
He looked like he worked out or played sports.
He put his hand on my arm to steady me from still revering in his glory.
"You okay?"
He asked me.
I nodded and gulped out a yes.
He helped me pick up my books off the floor and handed them to me.
Once again, I apologized for being so careless.
He told me not to worry about it and smiled at me once again.
The Forbidden Love
He turned and walked away.
I watched him as he went.
He had a swagger to him, like he knew who he was and what he wanted.
I couldn't stop staring at him, even after he was gone from my sight.
My heart was still racing from our encounter.
I could still feel the warmth of his hand on my arm.
I didn't know it then, but I knew that I would never forget that boy.
I saw him a few times over the next couple of days, but we didn't talk again until one day in the hallway when we were both heading to class.
He smiled at me and said hi, and I felt like I melted into a puddle of goo.
I returned his greeting and we kept walking to our next class together.
We talked about what classes we had in common and how our day had been going so far. He told me his name was Jake, and I told him mine was Lily.
We parted ways at the door to our classroom, and I watched as he walked away, watching his tight butt move beneath his jeans.
The Forbidden Love
It took me a minute to realize that I was standing in the middle of the hallway staring after him like an idiot.
I quickly got myself together and walked into class before anyone could see me staring after him.
I didn't see much of Jake for a few weeks after that.
Sometimes I'd catch glimpses of him in the hallway or cafeteria, but he never seemed to notice me anymore.
I guess that's why it was so surprising when he asked me out on a date.
It was during lunch, and he came over to where Emily and I were sitting at our table.
Emily is my best friend; she's outgoing, bubbly, and beautiful with long blonde hair and bright green eyes.
She's always been more outgoing than me, which is probably why Jake had chosen her table to come up to instead of mine.
"Hey Emily," he said as he stood by our table with a smirk on his face. Emily looked up at him from her sandwich with a big smile on her face.
"Hey Jake. What's up?"
"Nothing much. Just thought you might want to grab some ice cream with me later tonight."
Emily grinned up at him with stars in her eyes.
"Sounds like fun. When did you have in mind?"
"How about tonight after dinner? I'll pick you up at seven?"
Jake asked her with his piercing blue eyes locked on hers.
Emily nodded eagerly.
"Sounds perfect. See you then."
I watched them, feeling a strange mix of relief and disappointment, as I realized that maybe it was better this way.
The Forbidden Love
Jake smiled and nodded at Emily before walking away.
I sat there, picking at my sandwich, while Emily gushed about her plans for the evening.
The cafeteria was loud and noisy around us, with the typical chatter of students and the clinking of plastic utensils on trays.
Emily waved to someone across the room and I looked up to see Jake sitting down at a table with his friends.
He caught my eye and smiled at me, then turned back to his lunch.
Emily's boyfriend, Matt, came over and slid into the seat next to her.
She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek before turning back to me excitedly.
"Can you believe it? Jake asked me out!"
I nodded and smiled at her, happy that she was so happy.
"I know. You two will make a great couple."
Emily grinned at me, then turned back to Matt to talk about their plans for the weekend. I sat there eating my lunch while Emily and Matt talked about their weekend plans.
The bell rang and we all got up from our table to head to our next class.
The Forbidden Love
I walked down the hallway with Emily and Matt, listening as they talked about their plans for Saturday night.
We parted ways when we got to the door of our next class, and I walked in alone.
I sat down in my seat and pulled out my notebook for class.
As I waited for the teacher to start talking, I glanced over at Jake's desk across the room.
He was sitting there looking at me with a small smile on his face.
I felt my cheeks heat up with a blush as I looked away from him back down at my notebook.
The teacher started talking and I tried to focus on what he was saying, but I couldn't help glancing over at Jake every so often. The bell rang after what felt like forever, signaling that lunch had finally arrived.
I grabbed my bag from my locker and headed out into the hallway with Emily.
We walked down the hall together, heading towards our usual table in the cafeteria.
The cafeteria was loud with students talking and laughing as we made our way through the crowd of people towards our table.
Emily pulled out a chair from the table and plopped down in it while I took a seat next to her.
We both pulled out our lunches from our bags and began eating as we talked about our day so far.
Emily started telling me about her plans for the weekend with Jake when he walked by our table on his way out of the cafeteria.
"Hey, Lily," Jake said, pausing beside our table with a curious look in his eyes.
I looked up, surprised he was addressing me directly.
"Would you like to join us for ice cream tonight too?"
The Forbidden Love
I felt my stomach drop as I looked over at Emily, who was watching us with a confused look on her face.
"Um, sure," I said finally, looking back up at Jake.
He nodded and smiled before walking away.
I looked back over at Emily, who was still staring at me with a curious expression on her face.
"What?"
I asked her, feeling a little defensive.
She shrugged and went back to eating her lunch.
We finished eating and headed to our next class, the rest of the day passing in a blur of classes and homework.
After school, I walked down the street to the local ice cream parlor.
It was a small shop with a few tables inside and outside on the sidewalk.
I pushed open the door and walked inside, looking around for Emily and Jake.
Emily waved at me from a corner booth where she was sitting with Jake.
The Forbidden Love
I walked over to them and slid into the booth beside Emily, feeling a little awkward as Jake's eyes met mine across the table. Emily got up to go order our ice cream while Jake and I sat there in silence.
I could feel his eyes on me as I looked down at my hands in my lap.
I felt like he was studying me, like he was trying to figure out some puzzle that he couldn't quite solve.
I glanced up at him quickly, but he looked away just as fast as I had looked up at him.
Emily came back over with three cones in her hands and handed one to Jake before sitting down beside me again.
Jake took his cone from her and thanked her before taking a lick of his chocolate ice cream.
Emily sat down beside me with her own cone in hand and started talking about her day as we ate our ice cream.
Jake kept glancing over at me between licks of his cone, his eyes lingering on mine for just a little too long each time.
I tried to ignore him and focus on what Emily was saying, but it was hard when he was sitting right across from me looking so delicious. Emily finished telling us about her day and then excused herself to go to the bathroom.
As soon as she was gone, Jake leaned forward across the table towards me.
He rested his elbows on the table in front of him and leaned forward so that his face was only inches from mine.
His blue eyes were looking directly into mine as he stared at me intently.
"Lily, there's something I need to tell you," he said softly, his voice barely audible over the hum of the ice cream parlor.
I swallowed hard, feeling my heart race as I nodded for him to continue.
"I asked Emily out because I wanted to get closer to you."
