I was walking in the school compound when I saw a piece of paper on the floor.
I picked it up and gave it a cursory glance.
My name was written on it, so I decided to read it.
It was a letter written to me by someone.
As I read the content, my heart started beating fast, and my hands began to shake.
The letter read:
"Dear Emily, I want you, I need you, I must kiss you. Meet me tomorrow at a private place. I will tell you the venue later. I have always loved you, and you must come."
I was stunned to read the letter.
Who could be interested in me?
I wasn’t pretty, and I wasn’t even close to being beautiful.
I was just shy and didn’t like to make friends or talk to people.
But who could be interested in me?
I wanted to know who wrote the letter, but the person didn’t leave his name.
I was interested in knowing who he was, but how could I find out?
I didn’t know what to do.
Should I go and meet him?
What if he was joking?
What if he left me there alone?
I didn’t know what to do.
I walked into class, but my mind was on the letter.
I wasn’t interested in the class, and I didn’t even hear what the teacher was saying.
The Forbidden Kiss
I slipped the letter into my notebook and tried to look around the classroom, but I didn’t want to be obvious.
I looked at each face and tried to guess who he was.
Jason Mitchell was sitting two rows ahead of me.
He was tall and had broad shoulders.
He was hunched over his desk, writing something.
When he shifted in his seat, I looked away quickly.
I turned to Derek Thompson, who was sitting by the window, doodling on a piece of paper.
Next to him was Mark Chen, who was solving some math problems.
A few girls were whispering and giggling near the front of the class.
The soft whisper of a pencil etching across paper filled the air, a subtle reminder of the classroom's quiet intensity.

My heart was beating fast as I saw Jason glance back at me for a brief second before looking away.
I gripped my desk tightly, my palms growing sweaty.
Had that look meant anything?
At lunch break, I went to the library and sat in a corner, away from everyone.
I took out my notebook and opened it, looking for the letter.
I wanted to read it again in private.
I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I didn’t notice Sarah walking into the library until she sat next to me.
"Hey, Emily," she said.
"Are you thinking about who sent you the letter?"
I nodded.
"I have been thinking about it since morning. I am not sure who it is. There are so many boys in our class."
Sarah leaned closer to me.
"Let’s think about it. Who do you think could be interested in you?"
The Forbidden Kiss
I shrugged.
"I don’t know."
Sarah tapped her chin thoughtfully.
"Well, there are a few guys who could be interested in you. Let’s see…"
She looked around the classroom, taking in the other students.
"There’s Jason Mitchell. He is tall and handsome. Maybe he likes you."
I felt a flutter in my chest at the mention of Jason’s name.
Could he be the one?
But how would I know?
Sarah continued talking, pointing out other guys who could be interested in me.
I listened to her but wasn’t really paying attention.
My mind was still on Jason and the way he had looked at me earlier. I flipped through my notebook, looking for the letter.
My hands were shaking slightly as I searched through the pages.
The fluorescent lights above us flickered, casting an eerie glow over the room.
The air was thick with the smell of old books and stale air.
The Forbidden Kiss
Sarah chattered on about Jason, telling me how she had seen him looking at me during Chemistry class earlier that day.
I barely listened, too focused on finding the letter.
Finally, I turned to a section of blank pages near the back of my notebook and stopped abruptly when my fingers caught on something stuck between them.
The edge of a folded paper was wedged in the spiral binding of my notebook, partially hidden by a blank page.
