Yang Bowen is my family psychologist.
She's been hired by my parents to take care of me after they divorced.
She's gentle, calm, patient, and quite serious.
The first time I met her, I was 15 and suffering from severe depression.
I had lost all interest in life and was experiencing hypersomnia and anorexia.
My weight had dropped to fifty pounds, and my skin was deathly pale.
I didn't want to see anyone, let alone talk to them.
Yet Yang Bowen persisted in trying to establish a connection with me.
She would sit with me in silence for hours, never once complaining about the fact that I wasn't speaking to her.
She would also hold my hand gently as we walked around the villa.
It was a gesture that brought me comfort, and I didn't once push away her hand or feel uncomfortable about the physical contact.
At the time, I thought nothing of it because I was so grateful to have someone who showed me kindness and concern.
Now that I'm older, I realize that it was quite unusual for a psychologist to show such affection.

I curl up in bed, clutching my abdomen as another wave of menstrual cramps washes over me.
The pain is intense, and I can feel the tears welling up in my eyes.
Suddenly, the door to my room opens, and Yang Bowen enters with a hot water bottle in her hand.
She walks over to my bed and sits down beside me.
"I brought you some pain medication," she says softly, placing the hot water bottle against my stomach.
"It should help with the cramps."
I nod gratefully, taking the pills from her hand and swallowing them down.
She then hands me a cup of warm tea, which I sip slowly.
The pain is still there, but it's starting to subside a bit.
Yang Bowen places her hand on my back and begins to rub it gently in circular motions.

"Is that helping?" she asks quietly.
I nod again, feeling a sense of relief wash over me.
The warmth of her hand on my skin is comforting, and I can feel myself starting to relax.
As the pain subsides, I realize that Yang Bowen is still sitting beside me, her hand resting on my back.
I look up at her and see that she's watching me closely, a concerned expression on her face. "Are you feeling better?" she asks softly.
I nod again, feeling a little embarrassed that she's seen me in such a vulnerable state.
But she just smiles kindly at me and says, "It's okay. Menstrual cramps can be really painful. But you're doing great."
I smile back at her, feeling grateful for her kindness and concern.
As I look into her eyes, I realize that she's not just a psychologist - she's also a compassionate person who truly cares about her patients.
And in that moment, I feel lucky to have her in my life.

As the cramp intensifies, I whimper and instinctively reach for Yang Bowen's hand.
As evening falls, I lie awake in my dimly lit bedroom, unable to shake off the lingering fatigue from the day's events.
The cramps have subsided, but my body still feels heavy and lethargic.
The house creaks and groans around me, unfamiliar sounds that echo through the night.
The shadows on my walls seem to stretch and twist in the flickering light of the moon, casting an eerie glow over everything.
Suddenly, I hear footsteps in the hallway outside my room.
They're heavy and deliberate, too heavy to be Yang Bowen's.
My heart starts to race as I realize that the security system is currently under maintenance, leaving the villa vulnerable to intruders.
The footsteps grow louder and closer, sending a chill down my spine.
I try to remain still, holding my breath as I wait for whatever is coming my way. My phone is within arm's reach on the bedside table, but it feels like an eternity before I can muster up the courage to grab it.
As I reach for it, my hand trembles uncontrollably, causing the phone to slip from my grasp and clatter loudly to the floor.

The sound echoes through the room like a gunshot, and I freeze in terror as I wait for the inevitable.
But instead of rushing towards me, the footsteps stop abruptly in their tracks.
A moment of silence follows, and then quick steps towards my door.
I dive under the covers, pulling them tightly over my head as if they could protect me from whatever horror is about to unfold.
The door creaks open, and a shadow looms over the threshold, leaving me paralyzed with fear.
