My father was a high-ranking official in the divine realm.
Before he passed away, he was always very strict with me.
After his death, I found out that I had been deceived by a scoundrel and a woman who claimed to be my mother.
I had lost all my chances and my father's spirit could not rest at peace.
He had to trade his soul with another realm just to come back; the condition was that he couldn't let anyone know the truth.
Therefore, he could only entrust his sworn brother and told him to take care of me and my younger sister.
I was heartbroken when I found out the truth.
All my life, I thought it was my fault that my father had left us, that he didn't want to see me anymore.
But it wasn't me; it was the woman who claimed to be my mother and her daughter who had fooled my father and deceived him.
The Fallen Angel's Rebirth
I sat alone in father's study, methodically sorting through the old documents and letters.
The familiar scent of aged parchment filled the air as I examined each paper carefully, searching for any hidden clues about his past dealings.
A particular letter caught my attention - the handwriting looked eerily familiar, matching that of the woman who claimed to be my mother.
My hands trembled as I broke the worn seal.
Inside, I found detailed accounts of meetings between her and several high-ranking officials in the divine realm, including dates and locations.
The Fallen Angel's Rebirth
It was a treasure trove of information, and I knew I had to hide it before anyone else discovered it.
"Do you really think hiding it will change anything, brother?" my younger sister whispered from the doorway, her eyes wide with fear and curiosity.
"It might be the only way to protect us until we figure out who else is involved," I replied, trying to sound more confident than I felt.
"But what if they already know, and we're just playing into their hands?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
With trembling fingers, I folded the letter into quarters, my sister watching anxiously from the doorway.
The dim lighting of the study cast long shadows across the room as I moved towards father's old desk.
I pressed the hidden catch beneath the third drawer, and a narrow compartment opened with a soft creak.
My sister flinched at the sound, her eyes darting around the room nervously.
Dust coated my fingers as I slid the letter deep into the compartment, alongside other documents father had deemed too dangerous to keep in plain sight.
The Fallen Angel's Rebirth
The compartment closed with a soft click that seemed to echo through the silent room.
We both knew that from this moment on, there was no turning back.
I sat at father's desk, methodically sorting through the remaining papers while my sister brought a lamp closer to illuminate the cluttered surface.
Names of divine realm officials jumped out from the documents - some familiar, others unknown.
I created two careful lists: one for those mentioned in the false mother's letter and another for those who weren't.
My sister's shadow fell across the pages as she leaned in, pointing to one name that appeared multiple times - Councilor Zhang.
The same official who had recently pushed for changes in realm security protocols.
The Fallen Angel's Rebirth
I gripped the pen tighter, adding a third column to track their current positions and recent activities.
