God
male. He is the creator of the universe, heavens, earth, animals, planets, and angels. He is allpowerful, wise, and sometimes bored. God creates an angel to keep him company and learns from their interactions. He becomes annoyed when the angel grows too powerful and decides to banish him to Earth. God's actions lead to the Big Bang Theory.
Angel
male. He is a creation of God, designed to learn and adapt quickly. He is ambitious, curious, and eventually arrogant. The Angel grows in power as he spends time with God but becomes dissatisfied with his role. He questions God's authority and feels underappreciated when given Earth as his domain. His defiance leads to his banishment from Heaven.
I am God the creator of the universe, heavens, earth, animals, planets, angels and all that is.
I created every one of them and made them heed to my command.
I did this all in just a few seconds as if it were nothing.
It took me a few thousand years to get bored with what I had done.
I decided to create another thing but this time make it learn and adapt to things quickly.
The more time I spent with this thing the more it would learn and grow and become like me.
It could do and perform all things I could do and perform.
The only thing was the more time I spent with this creation the more negative it became towards me.
It was a good thing I learned how to control and use the negative to my advantage or else I would not have been able to finish it.
I finished it in a few thousand years and when I did, I named it an Angel.
The Angel had learned so much in those few thousand years that it had become wise beyond measure.
It was a great accomplishment for me but then again it was not.
I watched as the Angel moved through the heavenly realms, approaching a group of seraphim engaged in their eternal song of praise.
The seraphim paused their chorus, turning their many-eyed faces toward the Angel.
"Hey guys," he said with a casual familiarity, as if they were all equals rather than he a new creation and them the most ancient of all angels.
"Remember when I used to be nothing and didn't know anything?" he asked.
They nodded, rustling their wings in discomfort.
"Hey look at me now, you know how many celestial laws there are? You know how many of those laws I know?" he boasted.
"I can recite every one of them for you."
The Angel cleared his throat before speaking, "First law of heaven: God is always right. Second law: God is always just. Third law: God is always fair. Fourth law: God is all powerful. Fifth law: God knows all things."
He finished with a proud grin but then continued.
"But I say it is wrong, that it is not right to have a god who thinks he knows it all. I think there should be another angel that could help him make a decision or two because what if the god is wrong?" he said, twisting my laws to challenge my authority.
The seraphim shifted uncomfortably where they sat.
One of them spoke up.
"We know you are knowledgeable, but we also know you cannot change what God has decreed."
The Angel smiled, a glint of defiance in his eyes, and whispered, "Then perhaps it's time for a new decree."
I watched as he moved through the celestial halls, stopping other angels in their duties to whisper in their ears.
He promised them greater authority and freedom from absolute obedience.
Some of the seraphim shifted uncomfortably where they sat, while others listened intently as he described a new system where angels could vote on heavenly matters.
He drew diagrams in the air of circular meeting chambers where all would have equal voice.
A young cherub approached him, asking, "What if God doesn't like it?"
The Angel smiled, "God's power comes from our belief in it."
I noticed an archangel gliding toward the Angel, one of the first beings I had created.
His wings were weathered and his eyes deep set from countless eons of faithful service.
He placed a firm hand on the Angel's shoulder, interrupting his passionate discourse on redistributing heavenly powers.
The Angel bristled at first, but fell silent as the archangel began to speak.
"Remember when Heaven was new and angels were few?" he asked.
The Angel nodded, intrigued by the archangel's gentle tone.
"There was a time when angels questioned God's authority. They believed that if they could perform miracles and heal the sick then they should have a say in how Heaven was run."
The archangel paused, his eyes filled with memories of centuries past.
"But God knew that without faith in its authority, Heaven would crumble. So God gave each angel a task to perform, one that would keep them busy for eternity."
The archangel paused again, his gaze shifting to the group of angels gathered around.
"God knew that if angels were too busy to question its authority then they would never challenge it. And so Heaven flourished. But now, with this new angel you have created, God has given us a chance to grow and change. The Angel listened intently as the archangel continued.
"Yet, if we forget the balance between faith and freedom, we risk unraveling all that has been built."
