I am 16 years old.
My name is Mohamed Abdi.
My father's name is Abdinur Abdi.
He is 41 years old.
My mother's name is Layla Abdi.
She is 39 years old.
I live with my parents in Los Angeles in a bad ghetto with lots of crime, gangs, gun fights, knife fights, shootings, and harassment every single day and night.
The police never help.
They are corrupt and racist.
They don't like people who are not white.
They arrest and beat up black people for no reason at all.
There are lots of fights and big riots in our neighborhood.
There are lots of drive-by shootings and stabbings.
People get killed and injured every single day.
Gangs fight each other and kill each other every single day.
Some of them are armed with swords, knives, and guns.
They terrorize everyone in the neighborhood and steal from them.
They beat up people who are not paying them t##s or p####n money.
The English Teacher
I walk into my high school.
It is a big school with lots of students from different races.
There are black, Latino, Asian, and white students.
The black and Latino students hate each other.
They fight each other every single day.
The Asian students are quiet and peaceful.
They don't like to fight anyone.
They just want to study and get good grades.
The white students are the fewest in the school.
They don't like to mix with the other races.
They think they are better than everyone else.
They look down on everyone else.
The English Teacher
I see my new teacher, Julia Williams, standing in the hallway talking to some students.
She is a young woman with long blonde hair and blue eyes.
She is wearing a short skirt and a tight blouse that shows her b#g b###s.
She looks sexy and beautiful. She sees me walking towards her and smiles at me.
"Hi Mohamed," she says to me in a soft voice.
"Hi Ms. Williams," I reply to her politely.
"How are you doing today?" she asks me with a smile on her face.
"I am doing fine, thank you," I reply to her with a smile on my face too.
"That's good," she says to me happily.
"I hope you will do well in my class."
"I will try my best," I reply to her confidently.
"That's good," she says to me again with a smile on her face.
"If you need any help with your studies, just let me know."
"Thank you, Ms. Williams," I reply to her gratefully.
"I appreciate your help."
"You're welcome, Mohamed," she says to me kindly.
"I am here to help you."
"Thank you again," I reply to her politely. "You're welcome again," she replies to me happily.
"Now go to your class before it starts."
"Okay, Ms. Williams," I reply to her obediently and walk away towards my class while she watches me with a smile on her face.
The English Teacher
I walk into my class and see Miguel Serrano drawing something on a piece of paper.
He looks up at me and smirks.
"Hey Mohamed," he says to me in a sarcastic voice.
"What's up, man?"
"Not much, just getting ready for class."
"Come and see what I am drawing."
I walk over to his desk and see him drawing a picture of Jamal, the b##k guy who was beaten up yesterday by the L##o gang members.
Jamal is standing in the corner of the class looking at us.
He sees the picture of himself on the paper and his eyes start to water.
He turns away and tries to hide his face.
"You shouldn't have done that to Jamal, fake ass gangster," I say to Miguel with anger in my voice.
Miguel looks at me with a smirk on his face.
The English Teacher
"So what, you want to be his mother?" he says to me in a sarcastic voice.
I punch him in the face without hesitation.
He falls to the ground holding his nose in his hand.
The black students in the class stand up and start b###g up the Latino students.
The Latino students fight back with their fists and chairs.
The classroom becomes chaotic with everyone fighting each other.
The security guards rush into the classroom and start pulling students apart from each other. Julia stands outside the classroom watching the chaos inside with her eyes wide open in shock but not fear.
She doesn't say anything or try to stop the fight.
The English Teacher
The security guards take me and Miguel to the principal's office.
The principal puts us in detention together for one hour.
I sit on a chair and look at Miguel sitting on a chair across from me.
He is looking down at the floor with a smirk on his face.
I hear footsteps coming from outside the room.
Eva Juarez walks in and looks at me.
She is wearing a tight skirt that shows her belly button piercing and gold earrings that shine in the light.
She walks over to Miguel and sits next to him on a chair.
She looks at me with a smile on her face.
"Hi Mohamed," she says to me in a soft voice.
"Hi Eva," I reply to her politely.
The English Teacher
"How are you doing today?"
"I am good, thank you."
Miguel looks at Eva with anger in his eyes.
"Eva, what are you doing here?" he asks her in a loud voice.
"I came to see you, Miguel," Eva replies to him in a soft voice.
"I want to talk to you."
"Talk to me? What do you want to talk about?"
"I want to tell you something important."
"What is it?"
"It's personal."
Miguel looks at her with anger in his eyes and then turns away from her. Justin CEO, the black guy who was beaten up yesterday by the Latino gang members, and Mina Watana, an Asian girl who is part of the Asian group, walk into the room and look at us.
They sit down on chairs next to each other and start talking quietly to themselves.
They keep looking at us every few seconds with suspicion in their eyes.
I look back at them with anger in my eyes and then turn away from them.
I hear someone walking towards us from outside the room.
I turn around and see Julia Williams standing behind us with her hands folded across her chest and a smile on her face. "How are you guys doing?" she asks us in a soft voice.
"We are fine, Ms. Williams," Eva replies to her politely.
"That's good to hear."
"Now get back to your studies."
Julia walks out of the room without saying anything else to us.
The English Teacher
We sit there silently for a while until Eva breaks the silence between us by passing me a note under the table without anyone noticing it except Miguel, who looks at me with anger in his eyes but doesn't say anything about it.
The note reads: "Mohamed, meet me outside after detention. I have something important to tell you. Don't tell anyone about it. - Eva"
