Sam

He is a college student and Elektra's dorm neighbor. He is charming, friendly, and popular. Sam invites Elektra on a date, which she has to abruptly cancel due to her illness caused by the orb. His initial impression leaves an impression on Elektra, making him somewhat of a benchmark for future interactions. I still can’t believe that I got invited to attend the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
I’m only eighteen, and I thought I wouldn’t be able to go to college because of how expensive it is, but I got a scholarship.
My dorm buddy Mila is also a freshman.
She’s from Florida, while I’m from California.
We met a week ago when we moved into our dorms.
We became best friends immediately.
Our next door neighbors are also our friends.
Their names are Jon and Sam.
Sam is a cutie!
Everyone loves Sam.
He has asked me on a date, and I’m so nervous.
I don’t think I will be able to eat anything before we go out.
Mila told me that she thinks that Sam likes me more than just as friends.
She said that he looks at me like he wants to devour me.
I don’t think that I will be able to handle that kind of situation right now.
I’m still getting used to being in college.
I don’t think that I will be able to handle a boyfriend right now.
This morning when I went to get my breakfast, I saw a small box sitting at the doorstep of my dorm room.
I didn’t recognize the package or the return address, so I asked Mila if she knew anything about it, but she didn’t.
I woke up early this morning, and Mila was still asleep.
I was curious about the box, so I decided to check it out.
I opened the lid carefully, and inside, there was a silver orb.
It looked like it was glowing.
I hesitated for a moment, but then I touched it.
As soon as I did, I felt a static charge run through my body.
My hair stood on end, and I could feel the electricity in the air.
Suddenly, a small lightning bolt appeared in my hand.
I gasped and quickly hid it behind my back.
I glanced around to make sure no one had seen it, but everyone was still asleep.
The Electric Bug
The orb seemed to be pulsing with energy, and I could feel its power coursing through me.
"Mila, wake up!" I whispered urgently, shaking her shoulder.
"What is it?" she mumbled, rubbing her eyes.
"I don’t know," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady.
"I just got this weird package, and I touched this thing, and now there’s a lightning bolt in my hand."
Mila sat up quickly, her eyes wide with surprise.
"A lightning bolt? What do you mean?"
I hesitated for a moment before holding out my hand.
The lightning bolt was still there, crackling with electricity.
Mila gasped and jumped back a little.
"Whoa, that’s crazy!"
I nodded, feeling a mix of fear and excitement.
"I don’t know what it is or how it got here. I’m scared."
The Electric Bug
Mila looked at me with concern.
"We need to figure out what this is and why you have it. But first, let’s hide it so no one sees it."
I nodded in agreement, and we quickly hid the orb under the bed.
My phone rang, startling me.
It was Sam.
"Hey," I said, trying to sound normal despite the electric surge in my body.
"Hi," he replied, his voice cheerful.
"Are we still on for tonight?"
I hesitated for a moment before answering.
"Yeah, sure," I said, trying to sound casual despite the fact that I was holding a lightning bolt in my hand. "Great," he said.
"I’ll pick you up at 7."
"Okay," I replied, hanging up the phone.
Mila looked at me with concern.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
"Yeah," I said, trying to reassure her.
"I just need to figure out what this thing is and why it’s happening to me."
She nodded in agreement.
"Well, let’s do some research. Maybe we can find something online."
I nodded and pulled out my laptop while Mila sat next to me on the bed.
We started searching for information about the orb and the lightning bolt, but we couldn’t find anything that made sense.
After a few minutes of searching, Mila turned to me with a concerned expression on her face.
"Do you think we should tell someone about this?"
I hesitated for a moment before answering.
"I don’t know," I said honestly.
"I’m scared. What if they think I’m crazy?"
The Electric Bug
Mila nodded understandingly.
"I know. But we need to figure out what this is and why it’s happening to you."
I hear knocking at our door while I’m trying to control the static that’s making my hair stand on end.
Sam and Jon’s voices filter through the door, calling about a delivery they found.
My stomach drops when I see the identical brown package in Jon’s hands.
The same plain cardboard, the same white string tied in a bow.
Before I can stop him, Jon starts pulling at the string.
I lunge forward, grabbing his wrist.
"Wait!"
My fingers spark against his skin, making him yelp.
Sam steps closer, concern etched on his face.
The Electric Bug
I snatch the box, holding it behind my back while desperately searching for an excuse.
"Uh, it's just... a surprise for later," I stammer, trying to sound convincing.
Jon raises an eyebrow, clearly skeptical. "A surprise? You sure it’s not something dangerous?"
Sam glances between us, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Yeah, what's going on? You seem really jumpy."
My hand still tingles from zapping Jon.
Before I can stammer out another excuse, a deep voice cuts through the awkward silence.
"Is there a problem here?"
We all spin around to face the speaker.
Professor Chen from my Physics class stands in the hallway, his lab coat swishing as he approaches.
My stomach drops.
He must have seen everything.
Jon’s still rubbing his shocked wrist while Sam and Mila exchange confused looks.
The professor calmly picks up the second package, examining it through his thick glasses.
"This isn't the first time I've encountered one of these devices," he says quietly, glancing at my trembling hands.
The Electric Bug
"We need to talk," he says, his eyes locking onto mine with a knowing intensity.
