Despite their differences,she occasionally shows concern for Lily's wellbeing but remains detached from the family's past.

Sarah Carter

female. She is Lily and Emily's mother who has a complicated relationship with the town's history. She is secretive,protective,and nostalgic. Sarah grew up in the seaside town but left after a tragic event involving a local boy named Jake. Her reluctance to discuss the past fuels Lily's curiosity about their family's history and its connection to Jake.

I have no friends here and my parents and I are staying in my empty grandparents' house.

My older sister Emily is more interested in the social life of the town than in helping me explore it.

One day, while I'm searching the attic, I find an old diary belonging to a boy named Jake who died a few years before.

As I start reading, I realize that Jake is not just any ordinary boy.

He's watching me and wanting me to uncover the hidden secrets of the town and of my family.
