Ms. Maria
She is a teacher at Lily's preschool. She is comforting, understanding, and gentle. Ms. Maria participates in consoling Lily during her emotional turmoil at school. Her tender hugs and soothing words contribute significantly to helping Lily feel better and secure about her situation. Maria's role solidifies the supportive environment that aids Lily in coping with her distress.
I cried and hugged them tightly.
Ms. Sue, Ms. Janet, and Ms. Maria also hugged me back.
They were standing around me, and I was in the middle.
I was being hugged by them from three sides.
"I don't want to go home! I want to stay here!"
I shouted.
"OK, baby, we heard you. Don't be sad, OK?"
Ms. Sue said as she stroked my hair.
"Mrs. X came to see you earlier, right? She'll come to pick you up after work. It's not long from now," Ms. Janet said.
"But I don't want to go home! I don't want to see Mom and Dad!"
I shouted again.
"OK, let's not think about that now, OK? Let's just calm down first," Ms. Maria said while hugging me.
I was speechless.
All I could do was cry and snivel.
Ms. Sue, Ms. Janet, and Ms. Maria continued to hug me and talk to me in a gentle voice until I finally calmed down.
When I finally stopped crying, my nose was stuffy, and my face was wet with tears.
Ms. Sue immediately got a tissue and gently wiped my face while giving me gentle hugs at the same time.
"Let's wipe the nose first, OK?"
I press my face into Ms. Sue's shoulder, breathing in the familiar scent of her flowery perfume.
My fingers clutch at her shirt while she continues dabbing my face with the tissue.
Ms. Janet and Ms. Maria step back slightly, giving us space but staying close enough that I can still feel their warmth.
Ms. Sue's gentle hands move from wiping my tears to rubbing small circles on my back.
The tissue feels soft against my skin as she cleans my runny nose.
My breathing starts to steady, though hiccups still interrupt occasionally.
I stay nestled against Ms. Sue's shoulder, still sniffling, when Ms. Maria and Ms. Janet move closer again.
Ms. Maria places a hand gently on my back, her touch warm and comforting.
Ms. Janet kneels down beside us, creating a tight circle around Ms. Sue and me.
Ms. Maria leans in, her vanilla scent mingling with Ms. Sue's flowery perfume as they press closer.
I feel Ms. Janet's soft cardigan brush against my arm as she wraps her arms around us both.
Their warmth surrounds me completely now, like a protective shield.
I feel Ms. Maria's breath tickle my ear as she leans in closer.
Her long dark hair brushes against my cheek while she whispers gentle words.
The teachers' arms tighten around me, creating a cocoon of safety.
Ms. Sue's floral scent mingles with Ms. Maria's vanilla perfume as they press closer.
Ms. Janet's soft cardigan wipes against my tear-stained face.
My small hands grip Ms. Sue's shirt tighter as Ms. Maria's whisper makes me tremble.
The warmth of their bodies and the soft fabric of their clothes surround me completely.
I close my eyes, feeling safe in their embrace, and let out a deep, shuddering breath.
I lean into the group hug as Ms. Sue adjusts her position to hold me more securely.
Ms. Maria moves closer on my left side, her vanilla scent growing stronger as she wraps her arm around my shoulders.
Ms. Janet shifts to my right, her soft cardigan pressing against my arm as she completes the circle.
Their bodies form a protective wall around me, blocking out the rest of the classroom.
I feel Ms. Sue's steady breathing against my chest, Ms. Maria's gentle hand on my back, and Ms. Janet's warm presence beside me.
