"Varun wake up"
I said to myself.
Today is my wedding day and I don't know anything about my wife, neither her name nor what she looks like.
I know this is not right, but I have no choice.
My parents arranged the marriage and I couldn't refuse them.
They have given me so much in life that I couldn't deny them this one thing they asked for.
I quickly got up from the bed and started getting ready for my special day.
After sometime, I reached the marriage hall with my friends and relatives.
The marriage ceremony went on for a few hours and then I was tied to a girl whom I had never seen or known before.
After the marriage, we took blessings from our elders and left for our honeymoon.
During the journey, I thought of a way which could help me to know my wife better.
I decided that I will stay interested in my wife for 30 days.
For the first 10 days, I will observe her and try to find out what she likes and what she dislikes.
For the next 10 days, I will talk to her and try to get close to her.
The Day Challenge
During our train journey, I saw her sitting in front of me.
She was looking outside the window and I could see the passing landscape through the glass.
The rhythmic movement of the train created a soothing sound that filled the air.
We both sat in silence, not saying a word to each other.
After some time, the train passed through a small village.
I could see children playing cricket in a dusty field.
Their laughter and shouts filled the air as they chased each other around.
My wife was looking at them with a soft expression on her face.
Her fingers were tracing invisible patterns on the window glass.
A small smile played on her lips as she watched them.

I took out my phone and pretended to check some messages.
But in reality, I was observing my wife's reactions.
After some time, the train curved around a bend and sunlight fell on her face.
The train rattled through another village and I gathered my courage.
My palms felt sweaty against the phone screen while I watched her.
She was still interested in the children's game outside.
She leaned closer to the window, following their movements.
Her bangles clinked softly against the glass.
The Day Challenge
The sound reminded me of wedding bells from hours ago.
I shifted in my seat, rehearsing my question several times in my mind.
My throat felt dry.
Other passengers chatted freely around us, making our silence more apparent.
