She shoves me away, rolling her eyes.
"Jesus, Lucien. And I thought Ezra was bad with his whole ‘I’m going to tell you something but then I’m going to take it back’ thing. At least he doesn’t touch me when he does it. What the hell are you warning me about? You didn’t even give me any real information."
"You didn’t need any real information."
"Then what the hell did you call me here for?"
I shrug, holding up a hand as I take a drag from my cigar.
The alleyway is dark and barely lit, but the light coming from the end of the cigar as I inhale highlights her perfect features.
She’s fucking beautiful… and smart.
She just doesn’t have experience with the beautiful and deadly smart ones.
They know how to use their features to their advantage while still being beautiful and deadly.
She sighs.
"I guess I’m just surprised you didn’t invite Ava Knight for this," she says, turning to walk away from me and toward the darker side of the alleyway.
It’s a bad place to be walking away from someone like me — someone who has made as many enemies as I have — but she seems unafraid.
Or maybe she just doesn’t care.
