That night, I, along with my friends, decided to investigate the cursed mansion.
The group consisted of me, Ben, Matt, and Jules, who was initially hesitant but eventually joined us.
As we approached the mansion on the hill, an eerie feeling crept up our spines.
The moon was hidden behind thick clouds, and the wind rustled through the trees surrounding the mansion.
We cautiously stepped inside, and the creaking sound of the old door echoed through the empty halls.
"Are you guys sure you want to do this?"
Ben asked in a hushed voice.
"Look, if you are that scared, you can always go back," I replied with a smirk.
"But I'm not going anywhere without you," he retorted.
"Well, in any case, we're not leaving until we find out what's inside."
I said firmly.
The others nodded in agreement.
As we ventured deeper into the mansion, the air grew colder and the silence was broken by eerie whispers.
We couldn't quite make out what they were saying, but they sent chills down our spines.
The Curse of Blackwood Mansion
I led the way, following the sound of the whispers.
They seemed to be coming from upstairs, so I started to climb the stairs.
Ben grabbed my shoulder and pulled me back.
"Hey, slow down," he whispered.
"This place is creepy enough without you rushing around like a maniac."
I shook his hand off and continued up the stairs.
The others followed closely behind us.
We reached the top of the stairs and saw a long corridor stretching out before us.
The whispers were coming from somewhere down that corridor.
We started to make our way down it, but as we walked, the floorboards creaked beneath our feet.
The Curse of Blackwood Mansion
It sounded like someone was following us.
I tried to ignore it and kept walking, but the sound grew louder and closer.
Suddenly, Jules stopped in her tracks and pointed her flashlight down the corridor.
"There's something there," she said in a trembling voice. We all turned to look where she was pointing, but we couldn't see anything.
"What is it?"
Ben asked her.
"I don't know," she replied.
"It was moving, but now it's gone."
We all stood there for a moment, unsure of what to do next.
Then, we heard the whispers again.
This time, they were louder and clearer than before.
It sounded like children laughing and playing together.
The sound sent shivers down our spines, and we knew that we had to get out of there as fast as we could.
But before we could turn around and run back downstairs, we heard footsteps coming from behind us.
They were heavy and deliberate, like someone was trying to sneak up on us without being noticed. We turned around and saw a figure standing at the end of the corridor.
It was tall and imposing, with long arms that hung down by its sides like a gorilla's.
Its face was twisted into a grotesque grin that stretched across its face from ear to ear.
We stood there frozen in terror, unable to move or speak. The figure began to walk towards us slowly, its eyes fixed on us with an evil glare that made our blood run cold.
"Who dares disturb my slumber?" the figure growled, its voice echoing through the corridor.
"We... we didn't mean to," Jules stammered, her voice barely a whisper.
The Curse of Blackwood Mansion
"Then leave this place and never return, or face the wrath of those who dwell here," it warned, its grin widening impossibly.
The figure's warning echoed through the corridor as I backed away slowly, pushing my friends behind me.
The floorboards groaned under our combined weight, and dust rained from the ceiling.
Jules grabbed my sleeve, whispering urgently, "We have to leave, now."
But I couldn't tear my gaze away from the entity before us.
It moved with an unnatural gait, its limbs twitching and jerking in ways that defied human anatomy.
The Curse of Blackwood Mansion
As it took a step closer, its feet made wet, squelching sounds against the wood, as if they were rotting flesh.
The air around us grew colder, our breaths coming out in white puffs that hung suspended in the frigid air.
Matt stumbled backward, bumping into an old cabinet that lined the corridor.
The impact sent vibrations through the rotting floor, and a sharp crack split the silence.
