I was a shy twelveyearold girl.
I had four friends named Chloe Kenshin, Lexi Love, Cinna Lee, and Lyric Gates.
They were my bestfriends.
I had a crush on this boy named Logan James.
He was in my class, and he was really popular.
My friends said I should ask him out, but I was way too scared.
I knew he would say no, and then he would tell all of his friends about how I asked him out, and they would all laugh at me.
I was really nervous just thinking about it.
"Are you sure you should talk to him, Sunshine?" Chloe Kenshin asked.
"Yes," I nodded.
"You should," Lexi Love added.
"You should," Cinna Lee and Lyric Gates said together.
"Okay," I said as I took a deep breath and stood up.
I walked over to where he was sitting, and I started sweating a lot.
I could tell that he saw me standing there, but he didn't say anything yet.
He just kept staring at me with his piercing blue eyes.
I swallowed hard before I sat down in the seat next to his.
"Hi."
He finally said after what felt like forever of him just staring at me.
"H-Hello," I stuttered out, and he chuckled a little at how I was talking.
The Crush
I looked down at my sleeve and started fiddling with it.
My heart was beating so fast, and I was trying to find the courage to talk to him.
He kept staring at me curiously, and I could hear the cafeteria noise in the background.
I took a deep breath and tried to calm my voice before I spoke again.
"Can I talk to you for a second?"
I asked him, and he nodded.
"Sure."
He said as he leaned forward a little bit, waiting for me to say something else.
Behind me, I heard Chloe whispering to the others about how I was doing, but I tried not to listen to them.
I wiped my sweaty palms on my jeans and took another shaky breath before I finally asked him, "Do you want to hang out sometime?"
He stared at me for a second before he finally said, "Yes."
I just kept staring at him, and my mouth was hanging slightly open.
He had said yes.
I could hear the cafeteria noise behind me, but it was kind of muffled as I stared at him in shock.
He pulled his phone out of his pocket and asked, "Can I get your number?"
I nodded and pulled my own phone out of my backpack.
My fingers were still shaking as I typed my number into his phone, and I almost dropped it on my lunch tray before I caught it.
Lexi was giving me a big thumbs-up from two tables away, and Cinna was trying to pull her back down into her seat.
I handed Logan my phone so that he could put his own number in it, and then we handed each other our phones back.
"Meet me at the mall on Saturday afternoon?" he suggested, and I nodded again.
