A guy who can’t clone himself visits his best friend who has his other friends over, and they all have shirtless custom clones, which are tall, charming and four-armed and have eyes for each other.
Jason Carter
introverted, and slightly envious. Jason visits his best friend, Alex, and discovers his friends have clones. He feels left out and notices the clones' unique features, like their height and four arms. Jason struggles with his inability to clone himself, feeling like he's missing out on the fun. Despite this, he enjoys the company of his friends and their clones.
Alex Thompson
confident, and supportive. Alex hosts a gathering with his friends and their clones at his house. His clone is tall and charming with four arms, which catches Jason's attention. Alex notices Jason's discomfort about not being able to clone himself and tries to reassure him that it's not a big deal.
Mark Davis
playful, and flirtatious. Mark brings his clone to Alex's gathering and enjoys teasing Jason about not having a clone of his own. His clone is also tall with four arms and seems to have a romantic interest in Alex's clone.
I walked up the pathway to Alex Thompson's front door, noting the open front door.
I climbed the steps to the front door slowly and stepped inside, calling, "Hello!"
Then I headed for the living room.
As soon as I saw my best friend Alex in the living room, I smiled and walked over to him.
However, I couldn’t help but notice that he wasn’t wearing a shirt.
I frowned slightly, wondering if his girlfriend was over or something.
I stopped beside him and said, "Hey."
He looked over at me and smiled.
"Hey, Jason. What’s up?"
"Not much," I replied.
"I was invited, right?"
Alex laughed.
"Yeah, man. You were invited. You’re welcome to stay."
I looked around the room and noted that all our friends were there... with their clones.
My mouth dropped open as I stared at them all.
I stood there, feeling awkward and out of place.
Ryan’s clone was juggling cups with its four arms, and the others were laughing at it.
Mark’s clone leaned in close to Alex’s clone and whispered something in its ear.
Alex’s clone chuckled and nodded.
I shifted uncomfortably from one foot to the other, catching Alex’s eye.
He gave me a reassuring nod, but it did little to ease the knot in my stomach.
The clones moved with an effortless grace that was almost unnatural.
They seemed to be able to do anything they wanted with their four arms, and they had an undeniable charm that was hard to resist.
As I watched them interact with each other, I couldn’t help but feel like an outsider in my own circle of friends.
As the evening wore on, I found myself standing near the snack table, watching the clones.
Ryan’s clone challenged Mark’s clone to an arm-wrestling match, and the two of them locked four arms together.
The others cheered them on, and I couldn’t help but smile at the absurdity of it all.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see Alex standing beside me, holding out a drink.
I took it from him gratefully and asked, "You okay?"
He shrugged.
"I’m good. How about you?"
I looked over at the clones and smiled wryly.
"I’m doing okay."
Just then, Mark’s clone caught my eye and winked at me.
I looked away quickly, feeling a little uncomfortable.
I realized then that I was the only one without a clone.
