Alex Chen
and selfdeprecating. Alex struggles with social interactions, especially after being stood up on a date. He finds solace in his pet rabbit, Mandy, and becomes intrigued by a girl he sees at a coffee shop. Determined to approach her, he must overcome his shyness and technological failures, including a broken smartphone.
Eva
and curious. Eva becomes the target of Alex's interest when he sees her at the coffee shop. Despite his initial nervousness, she engages with him when their paths cross again. Her warmth and openness contrast sharply with Alex's usual interactions, making a connection with her appealing to him as he navigates his social insecurities.

While she doesn’t play a significant role in the storyline, her presence as a colleague of Eva adds depth to the setting of the coffee shop where pivotal moments unfold for Alex.
Narrator: In a distant future, when the stars slumber and the sands of time run in reverse, a magnificent battle has come to an end. Circuit City, once a fortress shrouded in the smoke of war, now basks in a long-awaited tranquility. Yet, what secrets lie hidden behind this serenity?
It was a place of enchantment, where the air was sweet with the scent of blooming flowers and the sky was painted with hues of sapphire and amethyst.
In this mystical land, there lived a young woman named Luna.
She was a creature of grace and elegance, with hair as black as the night sky and eyes that shone like the stars.
Luna possessed a heart full of kindness and compassion, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
One day, as Luna wandered through the lush forests of Penglai, she stumbled upon a hidden clearing.
In the center of the clearing stood an ancient tree, its branches twisted and gnarled with age.
As Luna approached the tree, she noticed something peculiar—a small door carved into its trunk.
Curiosity piqued, Luna opened the door and discovered a room filled with magical artifacts and ancient scrolls. As she delved deeper into the room, Luna came across a mysterious book bound in leather.
The cover was adorned with intricate symbols that glowed with an ethereal light.
Intrigued, Luna opened the book and found herself transported to a world beyond her wildest dreams.
The pages revealed tales of love, adventure, and bravery, each one more captivating than the last.
As Luna read on, she realized that this book held the secrets of Penglai itself—the magic that flowed through its veins and the stories that shaped its history.
With every turn of the page, Luna felt herself becoming a part of this enchanted world, her heart filling with wonder and awe.
And so, she continued to read, immersing herself in the tales of Penglai until the sun dipped below the horizon and darkness enveloped the land.
As she closed the book, Luna knew that she had discovered something truly special—a treasure trove of magic and mystery that would stay with her forever. "Hey," Eva says as she approaches my table at the coffee shop.
I look up from my phone, which is still broken from when I dropped it earlier today.
"Hi," I say back to her.
"How's your day going?"
Eva asks me as she sits down across from me at my table.
"It's been okay," I say to her as I put my phone down on the table in front of me.
"I had to work this morning. And then Mandy came over for a little bit."
"Oh yeah?" she asks me as she looks at me curiously.
"Yeah," I say to her as I lean forward a little bit in my seat.
"Do you want to see some pictures of her?"
I ask Eva.
"Sure," she says to me with a smile on her face.
I pick up my phone again and open the photo album on it.
I have to turn it sideways in order to see the pictures because the screen is cracked, but I'm still able to make out what they are of.
"Here," I say as I show her a picture of Mandy laying down on the floor next to my bed.
"That's her favorite spot in my room."
I swipe to the next picture, which is of Mandy laying down on my bed next to my window.
"This is her second favorite spot," I say to Eva as she looks at the picture.
"She likes laying down there so that she can look outside the window."
Eva moves her chair around so that she's sitting right next to me, and then she leans over so that she can see the pictures on my phone better.
As she does this, her shoulder brushes against mine, and I can feel my pulse start to quicken. "She's so cute," Eva says as she looks at the pictures of Mandy on my phone.
"Thanks," I say to her.
"She's a really sweet dog."
"Does she like playing fetch?" asks Eva as she looks up at me.
"Yeah, she loves playing fetch," I say to her as I swipe to the next picture on my phone, which is of Mandy running around in the backyard with one of her tennis balls in her mouth.
"She's really fast too," I say to Eva as she looks at the picture.
"Wow, she is fast," Eva says as she looks up at me with a smile on her face.
"What else does Mandy like doing?"
"Well," I say to her as I think about it for a second, "she really likes thumping her foot when she's excited about something. Like if you're getting ready to take her for a walk, or if you're giving her a treat."
"Oh yeah?" asks Eva curiously.
"Yeah," I say to her as I swipe to another picture of Mandy, which shows her thumping one of her front paws against the ground.
"She loves chasing shadows," I reply, as Eva's eyes meet mine with a spark of shared understanding.
