I wasn't looking for her; in fact, I wasn't even interested in her.
But once she set her eyes on me, there was no escaping her.
She had one thing on her mind…
Becoming Mrs. Sebastian Winston.
Little did she know, I had a few tricks up my sleeve.
I've never lost at seduction and I wasn't about to start now.
Losing control was never in the plans…
Until I fell for her.
I didn't plan on falling for her, but once I did, there was no turning back.
She had a way of drawing me in…
Deep into her web of seduction.
Once I fell, there was no getting up…
And then I found out her secrets…
Would our love prevail or was it all just a ploy?
The only thing certain… only one of us would emerge victorious.
SEBASTIAN
"I need a new secretary," I said to my best friend and business partner, Landon Parker.
He sat at his desk in our office at the Winston Group going over some papers.
When he heard me, he looked up quickly.
"You do?"
"Yes, why?"
I didn't like the way he said that and I knew that look on his face.
It was a "you're in trouble" look.
"What?"
"I just never thought you'd get rid of Karen. You two seemed…" he started to say.
The CEO's Seduction
I leaned back in my leather chair and looked away from him, not wanting to meet his eyes.
He had that look on his face again, the one that said he knew something I didn't want him to know.
He set down the papers he was going over and walked over to my desk, perching himself on the edge of it.
The afternoon sun cast long shadows through the office windows.
I opened my laptop and started looking over some emails, not really reading them, but trying to avoid Landon's stare.
He just sat there watching me, knowing I couldn't avoid him forever.
I could feel his eyes on me and I knew he wasn't going to say anything until I did.
I knew what he wanted to know and I wasn't going to tell him.
After a few minutes, I closed my laptop and looked up at him.
"She quit," I said.
"Karen? She quit?"
"Yes.""Why?"
The CEO's Seduction
"She came onto me last week and when I rejected her, she quit."
Landon shook his head.
"That's the third secretary you've had in two years that has quit because you wouldn't sleep with them."
The CEO's Seduction
"I know, but this one was different. She was good at her job and I thought she had more class than that."
I said.
"Maybe she did, but you're a very attractive man, Sebastian. You have to expect women to come onto you."
"I don't want to sleep with my secretary. I want someone who is going to do their job and nothing else."
I said.
"Well, maybe you should hire a guy then."
Landon said.
"That's not a bad idea," I said.
"But I don't think I could handle having a guy around me all day."
Landon chuckled.
"Then you'll just have to find a girl who isn't interested in you."
"That's easier said than done," I said.
The CEO's Seduction
"Look, it's not the end of the world. You'll find another secretary. You've got three interviews lined up today, right?"
"Yeah, three," I said.
"I'm sure one of them will work out."
Landon got up from my desk and went back to his desk.
I opened my laptop again and started looking over the applications of the people coming in for an interview today.
The first girl was named Mia Johnson.
She had a degree in business and was looking for a job as an executive secretary.
She had four years of experience working in an office setting and her resume looked impressive.
She was scheduled to be here in ten minutes, so I decided to go over her resume one more time before she got here. Mia walked into the office at exactly ten o'clock.
She was wearing a black pencil skirt and white blouse with her hair up in a bun.
She was very attractive, but that wasn't what caught my attention about her right away.
It was the confidence she had when she walked into the room that caught my attention.
I stood up from my chair and walked over to her, extending my hand to greet her.
"Good morning, Ms. Johnson," I said.
"Good morning, Mr. Winston," she replied, shaking my hand firmly.
"It's nice to meet you."
I led her over to my desk and motioned for her to take a seat in one of the chairs in front of it.
I sat down behind my desk and looked over at her before starting the interview.
"Thank you for coming in today," I said.
"I'm happy to be here," she replied.
"I've gone over your resume and it looks like you have quite a bit of experience as an executive secretary."
The CEO's Seduction
"Yes, I've worked in an office setting for four years now. I'm very organized and good at managing my time. I'm sure I would be a great fit for this position."
"I'm sure you would too, Ms. Johnson," I said.
"I just have one more question for you."
I asked her what she was looking for in a job and what her long-term goals were.
She told me that she was looking for a job where she could learn as much as possible and work her way up to the top.
She told me that she had been following my company for a while now and was impressed by how far we had gotten in such a short time.
I was impressed by her answers and I could tell that she was a very intelligent woman.
When the interview was over, I told her that we would be in touch within the next few days to let her know our decision.
She thanked me again and left.
I wasn't sure if I wanted to hire her or not.
She seemed very qualified, but I had hired girls like that before and they didn't work out.
They all ended up coming onto me and quitting when I rejected them. Mia stood up from her chair and gathered all of her documents from my desk.
The CEO's Seduction
She put them all back into her leather portfolio in a neat and orderly fashion.
The late afternoon sun cast long shadows through the office windows.
I looked over at Landon, who was sitting at his desk going over some papers.
He looked up at me when he saw me looking at him, but neither of us said anything.
I went over my notes from Mia's interview while waiting for the next candidate to arrive.
I was still trying to decide if she would be a good fit for our company when Landon got up from his desk and walked over to mine.
"What did you think about Mia?"
He asked when he got to my desk.
"She seems very intelligent," I replied.
"She has a lot of experience as an executive secretary and she is very confident."
"Are you going to hire her?"
"I haven't decided yet."
"Why not? She seems like the perfect candidate."
"She does, but so did Karen."
Landon looked at me with a confused expression on his face.
He knew what happened with Karen, but he didn't know why it happened. "What are you saying?"
He asked me, still looking confused.
Before I could answer him, the lights in the office started flickering on and off erratically.
"What's going on?"
Landon glanced around, his brow furrowed.
"Is the building having electrical issues again?" he asked, his voice tinged with concern.
I shook my head, feeling a chill run down my spine.
"No, this feels different... like someone's trying to send a message."
The CEO's Seduction
I reached for my desk phone, keeping my eyes on the overhead lights, which were blinking on and off in an erratic pattern.
The fluorescent tubes were pulsing in an unnatural way - three quick flashes, followed by complete darkness, then repeating the sequence.
Landon moved over to stand by my office window, his face alternating between light and shadow.
As I dialed maintenance, I noticed that my computer screen was also flickering in sync with the lights, even though it was running on its battery backup.
The building manager answered on the third ring.
"Hello?"
"Hi, this is Sebastian Winston. I need someone to come up to my office right away," I said into the phone.
"What's going on?" he asked.
"Our lights are flickering."
"That's strange. No one else has called in about a problem."
"I'm sure they will be," I replied.
He told me that someone would be up in a few minutes and hung up the phone.
The CEO's Seduction
I hung up the phone and looked over at Landon, who was still standing by the window.
The lights were still flickering, but my computer screen had gone completely black.
I leaned forward in my chair and touched the mouse to see if it would come back on.
The screen flickered back to life, but it wasn't showing my desktop anymore.
Instead, there was a pop-up window in the center of the screen with a message on it.
"Interested in doubling Winston Group's market share? Reply within 24 hours."
I leaned forward in my chair and looked closer at the message.
It was a plain white box with black text on it.
There was no logo or identifying information in the box.
I moved my mouse over to the bottom of the box to see who sent it.
The sender's name was 'Unknown' and there was no email address.
I clicked on the 'Reply' button to send a message back to whoever sent this email.
The CEO's Seduction
Nothing happened when I clicked the button, so I tried clicking on it again.
Still nothing happened, so I tried taking a screenshot of the message.
My computer froze up when I pressed the screenshot button.
Landon walked over to my desk and looked at my computer screen over my shoulder. "What's going on?"
He asked me when he saw the message on my screen.
"I don't know," I replied.
"I just got this message and now my computer won't work."
"Maybe we should trace the IP address," he suggested.
I tried clicking on the 'Reply' button again, but nothing happened.
I tried typing something into the box, but nothing showed up in it either.
Suddenly, there was a knock at my office door and I heard someone say, "Maintenance."
I got up from my chair and walked over to open the door for them.
When I opened it, a man in a blue uniform was standing there holding a toolbox.
He had his name tag clipped onto his shirt that said 'Frank.'
"Hi, Mr. Winston," he said when he saw me.
"I'm here to check out your lights."
"They're flickering," I told him as I stepped out of his way so he could come into my office. Frank walked into my office and looked up at the ceiling when he heard me say that our lights were flickering.
He looked confused when he saw that they weren't flickering anymore and then looked over at me like he thought I was joking about them being broken in the first place.
"What's going on?"
