"Lily, why are you crying?"
I was surprised when I heard Rachel's voice, and I was shocked when she came and sat next to me because I was alone in this classroom during lunch because Ms Sue allowed me to come here to hide from the bullies.
I was crying because I missed my mom so much, and I missed my dad too, but I was trying to be strong because I knew that crying wouldn't solve my problem.
"I-I am not crying."
Rachel laughed and said meanly with a roll of her eyes, "Don't lie. I clearly saw that you were crying."
Then she looked at me with her smug smile and said, "Why are you crying?"
I didn't answer her.
I just ignored her.
However, she seemed that she wanted to torture me more by putting her hand on my shoulder, then asking meanly while looking at me with her crazy smile, "Do you cry because your dad doesn't have means to buy you what you want?"
Actually, Rachel was mean, but this time I felt that she crossed the line.
My body trembled emotionally as if a volcano was inside me ready to erupt any moment with anger.
I hated it very much when someone talked about my dad in a mean way or even mentioned his poverty.
Suddenly, I felt that my anger exploded in a second.
I stood up abruptly, and my chair fell backward with a loud noise.
My tears were falling down my cheeks, and my fists were clenched at my sides as I faced Rachel.
I didn't know what I would do next because I was so angry.
However, before I could do anything, Ms. Sue appeared in the doorway suddenly.
She looked at us for a second, then she shouted to Ms. Janet and Ms. Maira who were passing by the classroom.
Rachel's smug expression falters when she saw the three teachers entering the classroom.
Ms. Sue walked to Rachel quickly and said firmly, "Rachel, leave now and go to the principal's office."
Rachel left the classroom immediately.
Then Ms. Sue, Ms. Janet, and Ms. Maira surrounded me.
My body was shaking with sobs.
They wrapped their arms around me in a group hug.
Ms. Sue whispered gently, "Lily, we know about your situation at home, and we want to help."
Ms. Janet added softly, "You don't have to face this alone; we're here for you."
Ms. Maira nodded and said reassuringly, "Let's talk about how we can support you and make things better."
I was still shaking with sobs, but I felt that their arms were tightening around me in a protective circle.
Ms. Sue gently stroked my hair while Ms. Janet rubbed small circles on my back.
Ms. Maira whispered words of encouragement and reassurance.
Their embrace felt like a shield against all the cruelty I had endured.
When my sobs finally quieted to hiccups, Ms. Sue pulled back slightly and wiped tears from my cheeks with her sleeve.
Ms. Janet produced tissues from her desk while Ms. Maira kept a steady hand on my shoulder.
Ms. Sue pulled me close again, and I rested my head against her shoulder.
It was the first time in a long time that I felt safe and protected.
Ms. Sue spoke softly, "Lily, we want you to know that your mom would be proud of how strong you're being."
Ms. Janet chimed in, "And your dad's situation doesn't define you; you're so much more than that."
Ms. Maira added with a warm smile, "We'll make sure Rachel understands that too, and she won't bother you again."
