I was so excited when I saw Jaden at the public pool, because I love peeing with him and my other friend Noah.
I’ve been friends with Jaden since kindergarten, and we always share our secrets with each other.
We tell each other everything, and we are always there for each other no matter what.
I think that’s why we are such good friends, because we can be vulnerable with each other and not be embarrassed.
We can be ourselves around each other, and not be afraid of being rejected or made fun of.
We trust each other, which is very important in a friendship, and I think that’s why our bond is so strong.
"I’m so glad you’re here," I said to him with a big smile on my face.
"Me too," he answered back, smiling just as hard as me.
"Let’s go get some water," I suggested, and he nodded his head in agreement.
We walked over to the drinking fountain and started drinking as much water as possible.
The more water we drank, the more we were going to pee.
This was the first time we had done something like this.
Jaden and I agreed, but only if Noah would do it too.
The Boys' Club
After filling our bellies with water, we walked to the pool’s edge.
Our stomachs sloshed with every step we took.
The concrete wasn't burning under our feet as we inched closer and closer to the pool because we were wearing our sandals.
I glanced over at Jaden, who was holding his stomach and shifting from foot to foot.
The smell of chlorine hit my nose as I peeked into the clear blue water.
The Boys' Club
My bladder felt heavy, and I could tell Jaden needed to go too from the way he was dancing around.
We exchanged knowing looks, remembering our plan.
The anticipation built as we counted down from three.
We jump into the shallow end, splashing each other and laughing while treading water.
The cool water makes my full bladder throb more intensely.
"Let’s play Marco Polo," Jaden suggests, but I can tell he's just as distracted as I am.
He keeps shifting his legs back and forth underwater.
"Okay," I agree, and we swim to the deeper section of the pool.
Occasionally, we bump into other kids playing in the water, but we keep moving.
The constant movement makes it harder to hold back.
I watch Jaden grab himself underwater, and I know I'm not far behind.
After twenty minutes of swimming around, the pressure becomes too much.
I glance at Jaden, nodding, and we both let go, feeling an odd mix of relief and rebellion.
The Boys' Club
The warm water swirls around us as we float near the pool's deep end, our legs kicking lazily.
I feel the intense pressure in my bladder reaching its peak.
Jaden's face shows strain as he treads water beside me.
We drift away from a group of kids splashing and playing together, finding a quieter corner of the pool.
I give Jaden our secret signal - three quick finger taps against the water.
The Boys' Club
He nods, and we both relax our muscles, letting go.
The relief is immediate as we release into the pool.
Jaden's eyes crinkle with suppressed laughter, and I have to bite my lip to keep from giggling.
After peeing, we drift lazily in the deep end, pretending to practice floating on our backs.
The water feels warmer around us, but I'm not worried since the chemicals usually hide everything.
Jaden splashes me playfully, and we start a small water fight to act natural.
Other kids swim past us, completely unaware of what we've done.
I notice a family entering the shallow end, small children clinging to their parents' hands.
They look like they're here for a birthday party.
I feel a twinge of nervousness as they approach the pool's edge.
Jaden and I swim to the middle of the pool, trying to put some distance between us and the new arrivals.
As we move, I glance back at where we were floating.
The water is clear, and no one suspects a thing.
The Boys' Club
While floating lazily in the middle of the pool, I notice one of the lifeguards standing up at his post.
He squints at the water near where Jaden and I had been.
He leans forward, adjusting his sunglasses and focusing intently on that spot.
My heart starts racing when I see him pointing and whispering to another lifeguard.
They both stare at the water where we were minutes ago.
I nudge Jaden and gesture with my eyes.
His face goes pale when he sees them.
"Do you think they know?" Jaden whispers, panic edging his voice.
"I don't know," I reply, trying to keep calm, "but we need to act normal."
"Let's just swim over to the other side and blend in with the crowd," he suggests, his eyes darting nervously.
The Boys' Club
My heart still racing, I lead Jaden through the water with slow, deliberate strokes.
We weave between other swimmers, trying to look natural while keeping an eye on the lifeguards.
A group of kids our age bounces a bright orange beach ball back and forth, their splashing and laughter creating the perfect cover.
I tap Jaden's shoulder and tilt my head toward them.
He nods, understanding.
We drift closer to their game, positioning ourselves near the edge of their circle.
A tall boy with red swim trunks notices us and waves the ball in our direction.
"Hey, want to join in?" the boy asks, tossing the ball lightly toward us.
"Sure," I reply, catching it with a grin, trying to sound as casual as possible.
Jaden forces a smile and adds, "Yeah, we could use a little distraction right now."
The Boys' Club
I toss the ball to a kid wearing goggles, keeping one eye on the lifeguards as I do.
My shoulders remain tense, tracking their movements.
Suddenly, a commotion erupts from the far end of the pool.
Two teenagers are roughhousing, pushing each other underwater.
The lifeguards immediately focus their attention on the disturbance, blowing their whistles sharply.
The Boys' Club
I exhale deeply, feeling the tension drain from my body.
Jaden catches my eye and grins with relief.
We continue playing with the beach ball group, but now our movements are looser, more natural.
I lean close to Jaden and whisper, "We should move to the deep end while everyone's distracted with that fight."
He hesitates, glancing at the commotion where the lifeguards are now separating the angry teens.
I grab his arm and we slip away from the game, ducking under the dividing rope into the deep section.
The water gets darker as we swim further out, leaving the noise and chaos behind.
My feet can't touch the bottom anymore.
The Boys' Club
Jaden looks around, his voice barely audible over the water, "Do you think they found it?"
I shake my head, trying to reassure him, "If they did, they'd be all over us by now."
"But what if someone else finds it first?" he asks, his eyes wide with worry.
I lean close to him, my voice low and urgent, "What if we make them think there's another fight?"
Jaden's eyes widen with understanding.
I continue, "We could splash around, yell at each other like those other kids. They'll have to come over here and break it up."
Jaden grips the pool wall, considering it.
"Nothing too rough," he says finally, "Just enough to keep them busy."
