I was in a f###g nightmare.
The woman who had crushed my heart into a million pieces was right in front of me.
I’d thought I was prepared, but nothing could have prepared me for the shock of seeing her again.
She looked beautiful, stunning, like a goddamn angel.
I felt like I’d been punched in the gut as I stood there, unable to breathe.
"Hey," she said, her voice low and s##y, like it used to be when we were together.
I still had no idea what to say, so I just stood there, my mouth opening and closing like a fish.
"Hey," she said again, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
"You look like you’ve seen a ghost."
That was one way to put it.
I couldn’t believe she was here.
Standing right in front of me.
Smiling at me like nothing was wrong.
"Hey," I said finally, clearing my throat and trying to sound normal.
"Hey."
She smiled wider, her lips curling up and revealing her dimples.
It was a smile that always got me every time.
Even now, when I couldn’t believe she was here and my whole world was spinning out of control, she could still make me want her.
Julia walked up to us, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
"I see you met my maid of honor," she said, gesturing towards Morgan.
"This is Morgan," she said, as if I didn’t already know who the hell she was.
I forced a smile, nodding along like an idiot.
Morgan watched us, her smirk never faltering.
My heart was pounding in my chest as I tried to focus on what Julia was saying.
Something about the wedding plans and how excited she was for me to meet her friends.
I nodded and smiled, trying to seem interested, but all I could think about was Morgan.
She was so close, just a few feet away from me.
I could feel her eyes on me, boring into my skin.
The Boyfriend Effect
It felt like we were the only two people in the room.
"So, the plan is for Morgan to carry me piggyback to the altar," Julia said, gesturing to Morgan.
"Morgan, you’ll be carrying me piggyback to the altar," Julia said, gesturing towards Morgan.
Ethan watched her, his eyes occasionally darting over to Morgan, who was smirking at him.
"And then you’ll walk down the aisle and stand next to Ben," Julia continued, pointing to Ethan.
Morgan snorted.
"Sounds like a real party," she said, rolling her eyes.
Ethan shifted uncomfortably, trying to focus on what Julia was saying but unable to take his eyes off of Morgan.
She was so close, just a few feet away from him.
He could feel her breath on his neck as she leaned in closer.
"You know, Ethan," she said, her voice low and husky.
The Boyfriend Effect
"I think you should try the piggyback ride too. It might be fun."
Ethan forced a laugh, feeling his heart race in his chest.
"Oh yeah? I don’t know if I could handle that," he said, trying to sound casual.
Morgan shrugged, her eyes never leaving his face.
"Suit yourself," she said.
"But I think it would be fun."
Julia cleared her throat, pulling Ethan’s attention back to her.
"Okay, so once we’re all in position, we’ll start walking down the aisle," she said. "You’ll be right behind me, Ethan. And then Ben will be at the end of the aisle. You’ll walk up to him and stand next to him."
Ethan nodded, trying to focus on what Julia was saying.
But he couldn’t help sneaking glances at Morgan every now and then.
She was still watching him with that smirk on her face.
It was driving him crazy.
"And then we’ll have the ceremony," Julia continued.
"It should only take about 20 minutes or so. And then we’ll head back down the aisle and go into the reception hall."
Ethan nodded again, feeling like an idiot.
The Boyfriend Effect
He knew he should be paying attention to what Julia was saying, but all he could think about was Morgan and how much he wanted to touch her.
"Okay, let’s get started," Julia said finally.
"Everyone take your positions."
Ethan nodded and stepped back into place beside Ben.
As everyone took their positions, I stood next to Ben, my eyes darting over to Morgan.
She was adjusting her dress, smoothing down the fabric with her hands.
She glanced over at me and smirked again.
The guests were all seated and waiting for the ceremony to begin.
They had no idea what was going on between us, but they could probably tell that something was off.
Morgan adjusted Julia’s veil and then bent down so Julia could climb onto her back.
Julia giggled as she wrapped her arms around Morgan’s neck.
The music started up again and they began their slow walk down the aisle.
I followed behind them, trying not to look at Morgan too much.
My heart was pounding in my chest and I could feel my palms getting sweaty.
As Julia climbed onto Morgan’s back, I followed close behind.
I could hear the guests chuckling and clapping as they made their way down the aisle.
As Morgan carried Julia down the aisle, I followed close behind them.
My eyes kept drifting over to them, and I couldn’t help but smile at the sight of them.
They were so happy and carefree, and it was infectious.
Suddenly, I felt a tug on my dress.
I looked down to see that the fabric had snagged on Julia’s dress.
But we were too far along to stop now.
So we just kept going, hoping that no one would notice.
I didn’t realize what had happened until I saw the looks on the guests’ faces.
They were all staring at us in shock, their mouths hanging open in disbelief.
It wasn’t until I looked down at my dress that I realized what had happened.
The Boyfriend Effect
The fabric had snagged on Julia’s dress and was now caught on her underwear.
And not just any underwear, but bright pink and blue polka dot underwear. I couldn’t believe it.
We were both exposed for all to see, and yet we continued walking down the aisle like nothing was wrong.
I knew we should stop and fix our dresses, but it was too late now.
We had already reached the altar and were standing in front of Ben and Ethan.
I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as I tried to figure out what to do next.
Should I try to fix our dresses?
Or should I just let it go and hope that no one noticed?
As I stood there trying to decide what to do, I heard a voice whispering in my ear.
"You might want to fix that," Ethan said quietly.
The Boyfriend Effect
I turned to look at him, my cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
