Jayson is your black boy best friend.
You've been friends since kindergarten.
You and him were in his room watching funny weird videos.
Jayson Carter
loyal, and humorous. Jayson has been friends with the narrator since kindergarten and enjoys spending time together, often watching funny videos. He is known for his silly antics and ability to make people laugh. Despite his carefree nature, he is supportive and protective of those he cares about.
Landon Brooks
adventurous, and mischievous. Landon often joins Jayson and the narrator in their activities, adding to the group's dynamic. His bold nature sometimes leads to trouble, but he always manages to talk his way out of situations.
Mason Reed
reserved, and analytical. Mason often provides a voice of reason among his friends but isn't immune to their antics. His calm demeanor helps balance out the group's energy.
My name is Jayson's black boy best friend.
No, that's not it.
My name is... um... uh...
I got it!
I'm Landon and Mason's friend, but Jayson is my black boy best friend.
Got it?
Got it.
High School is about to start, and I was currently at Jayson's house in his room watching funny ass videos with him, Landon, and Mason.
We've been friends since kindergarten, and honestly, I don't know what the fuck I'd do without the dumbass.
He knows how to make me laugh even on my worst days.
Speaking of him being a dumbass, right when I thought the video was over, he decided to rewind it and play it again.
"Jayson, I've seen this damn video a million times. Can we please watch something else?" I asked, putting my head in my hands.
"Aw come on bestie, it's funny as hell. Just one more time," he whined.
I looked up at him with a sigh.
He was pouting like a damn baby.
"Fine," I said.
"It's only funny because the goat is fucking with the damn treadmill," Mason said, shaking his head.
If you don't know Mason, he's the smartest out of all of us.
He's always reading and knows damn near everything.
I leaned back against Jayson's bed, stretching my legs out as the video finally ended.
Landon sat up from his sprawled position on the floor, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.
"Instead of watching more videos, let's prank call someone," he said.
"Man, that's not a good idea. Remember last month when we called the pizza place and they called us out by name?" Mason said.
Landon had already pulled his phone out and was scrolling through his contacts.
Jayson's eyes lit up with interest as Landon's finger hovered over a name.
"Sarah from Chemistry class," he whispered.
I shook my head, knowing this was about to be the start of something we couldn't take back.
Landon handed his phone to Jayson, who took it with a nervous smile.
He tapped the call button but didn't put it to his ear.
"Guys, I'm telling you, we're gonna get in trouble. Remember what happened last time? The pizza place manager said he was going to call the cops on us," Mason warned.
I was about to suggest we forget the whole thing when Jayson's bedroom door creaked open.
Jayson's older brother Derek leaned against the doorframe with that smirk on his face.
The same smirk he had on when he helped us sneak into the community pool last summer.
Jayson's eyes lit up as he looked at his brother.
"Hey Derek, we were about to prank call someone. You want to help?"
Derek sauntered into the room, plopping down on Jayson's bed next to me.
The mattress bounced slightly from his sudden weight.
He grabbed Landon's phone out of Jayson's hands.
"Who were you thinking of calling?"
His eyes scanned over the screen.
"Sarah from Chemistry," Landon said with a grin.
Derek pulled up Sarah's social media profiles.
"Let's make this interesting," he said as he scrolled through her profiles.
I sat up and leaned against the headboard, watching Derek work his magic.
He pulled up her last post about starting her new job at the mall when school started back up.
"Alright, let's do this. Jayson, Landon, come over here so we can see what I'm typing. Mason, you're good over there," he said, pointing to where Mason was sitting on the floor with his arms crossed over his chest.
Landon and Jayson scooted over next to us, looking at the screen.
Derek opened Landon's texting app and pulled up Sarah's number. "Okay, so I'm going to act like I'm her boss. Let me think of something good," he muttered as he tapped his fingers against his chin.
We all sat in silence waiting for him to come up with something good.
A few minutes later, Derek snapped his fingers and typed out a message.
"I've got it! Look at this shit."
Derek showed us what he had typed before sending it:

Jayson chuckled, "Dude, she's gonna freak out when she sees this."
Landon nodded, "Yeah, but what if she actually calls her manager to confirm?"
Derek shrugged, "Then we'll just say it was a joke. She'll laugh it off... hopefully."
