I sat on the grass, on a blanket, in an outdoor location that was very popular with men my age.
I didn't come here as much as I would have liked, but I tried to make it at least once a week.
There were thousands and thousands and thousands of young men all around me.
Each and every single one of them was tall and cut in the bodybuilding kind of way.
They all had various shades of tan, from not so much to extremely dark, but all of their bodies were hard from constant gym workouts.
The beautiful sunny day made it feel necessary to be outside in the beautiful nature, rather than cooped up inside, but most of them would have been here anyway, regardless of the weather.
They came for the scenery, but they also came for the company of other men.
The constant sound of their voices talking and laughing was slightly deafening, but in a good way.
It was a lively scene, yet peaceful at the same time.
I always felt very comfortable here amongst them.
I wasn't very outgoing or anything, but I fit in fine just the same because I was one of them in terms of how I looked physically.
I didn't feel out of place or anything like that while I sat quietly by myself watching all of the others enjoy themselves.
Marcus and Jason were approaching me from across the field, their tall muscular bodies casting long shadows on the grass as they walked.
They had a volleyball with them and were gesturing for me to join them.
I usually kept to myself, but they both had very welcoming smiles on their faces, so it was hard to say no.
I stood up from my blanket and saw that there were dozens of other groups playing similar games all around the open space.
The men were all divided into teams, and the sound of their laughter and calls filled the air.
The sun was warm on my skin as I walked with Marcus and Jason towards where they wanted to set up their net.
It was two trees spaced far enough apart that a net could fit between them.
There were already eight other men waiting there, so we would have ten on each team.
"Hey, glad you decided to join us," Marcus said, tossing the volleyball from hand to hand.
"Yeah, we could use someone with your height on our side," Jason added with a grin.
"Thanks," I replied, feeling a bit more at ease, "but I have to admit, I've never played before."
"Don't worry, you'll pick it up," Marcus said, tossing the ball to one of the other guys on our side.
"Let's just play for fun. I don't want anyone to get too competitive."
"I agree," Jason said.
"We're here to have fun, not to make it a big deal."
The game started and it was pretty casual at first, but as more athletic guys arrived at the spot, they would drop their bags and shirts by some nearby trees and then come over to watch us play.
The sun was shining down on all of them and it made their bodies glisten with sweat as they stretched and talked about the game.
After we played for a while, Marcus called a quick break and we all gathered around where we had left our bags and shirts by some trees.
Jason was making jokes about how we were drawing a crowd, because there were several new guys standing around watching us with interest.
Two of them were very tall, even taller than me, and they both had very muscular bodies that looked like they had been carved out of stone.
One of them spoke up.
"Hey, can we join in? We're not interrupting anything are we?"
"Not at all," Marcus said right away.
"We'd love to have you guys. We can just add you to the teams. It's all just for fun anyway."
The two newcomers smiled and then dropped their bags by the tree where the rest of ours were. They took off their shirts and then walked over to where we were standing.
I couldn't help but notice how attractive they both were.
Their bodies were perfect in terms of how muscular they were and how well defined each muscle was.
They were both very tanned as well, which made them look even more impressive in my opinion.
"Let's get back to the game," Marcus said.
He tossed the ball back into the air and then jumped up to spike it over the net.
We all played together for another hour or so before we decided to take a break again.
As we were resting, Jason started joking around with me about my serve being weak.
He was just trying to be playful, but I didn't usually hang out with people who talked trash like that, so I was surprised when I found myself laughing along with him at his jokes. "I think your serve is great," one of the two tall guys said with a smile.
I turned my head towards him and felt myself smiling back at him in response.
In that moment, I realized I had found a place where I truly belonged.
