Gay white boy moves to an all black boys school
I was a gay boy who had just moved to a school where all the boys were black.
I was white.
Would I fit in?
Should I even try?
My name is Cameron.
I grew up in New York City and had to move to a new state for my mother’s job.
I was now in Atlanta, Georgia, attending a new school.
It was Monday morning, and I was ready for my second week.
The first week had been tough.
I didn’t make any friends, and I had seen a few boys staring at me.
One boy in particular would stare at me during lunch, and then he would get up and walk away.
Today, I was going to sit by the window so I could watch for the boys who sat at my table yesterday.
Maybe today, one of them will talk to me.
As I walked into the cafeteria, I looked around for a table.
There were very few kids eating at this moment since I was running a bit early.
I saw about four empty tables and two with a few boys at them.
I decided to sit at the table right by the window.
I sat down, looking around the cafeteria, watching as more and more boys came in.
I wanted to see which table my group sat at yesterday so I could sit with them today.
