I was forced by my parents to go on a blind date with one of their friend's colleague.

I really didn't want to go, but they said I had to.

If I didn't go, then they would cancel my allowance and cut me off from the family.

When I arrived, I saw my blind date waiting for me at the entrance.

He looked a little familiar, but I couldn't remember where I had seen him before.

"Hello, Lily," he greeted me with a smile.

Then we went inside and found a table.

Just as we were about to order our food, my phone suddenly rang.

It was my little sister calling.

She told me that she had fallen in love with someone and asked me to run away so that she could take my place and get rid of the blind date.

I looked at the man sitting across from me and saw that he was staring at me with a puzzled expression.

I could feel my heart racing with excitement.

I didn't want to go on this date, but I also didn't want to disappoint my parents.

So, I decided to make a run for it.

I grabbed my purse and quickly left the restaurant, leaving the man behind.

I walked down the sidewalk, my heels clicking against the pavement.

The evening crowd parted around me as I hurried along.

Suddenly, a motorcycle's engine roared to life nearby.

I glanced up and saw that it was heading straight for me.

I gasped and jumped off the sidewalk, barely avoiding getting hit.

The motorcycle screeched to a halt just inches away from me. The rider climbed off the bike and rushed over to help me up.

"Are you okay?" he asked, looking concerned.

I nodded, still trying to catch my breath.

"Thank you," I said, feeling grateful that he had saved me.

He smiled and handed me his helmet.

"I'm glad I could help. Here, take this. You can use it as a shield if you need to."

I took the helmet and thanked him again.

Then I turned to leave, but he called out to me.

"Hey! Wait!"

I turned back and saw that he was holding out his phone.

"If you're in trouble, you can call me. My name is Max."

I smiled and nodded my head.

"Okay, thanks," I said, taking his number and putting it in my phone.

"Wait, Lily!" he called again, urgency in his voice.

I turned back, puzzled.

"You don't remember me, do you? I'm the guy your sister's in love with."

I stared at him in disbelief, my hands shaking as I held his helmet.

The revelation hit me like a punch to the gut.

This was the guy my sister had confessed her love for just minutes ago.

And now, here he was, offering to help me escape from my blind date.

I looked through the restaurant window and saw my parents and date searching for me.

Their heads were turning left and right, scanning the crowd.

Max followed my gaze and saw them too.

He edged his motorcycle closer to the curb and extended his hand to me.

"Come on," he said, his voice low and urgent.

I hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do.

But then I took a deep breath and reached out, taking his hand in mine.
