After learning about Shane’s true circumstances and wealth, they feigned sympathy but were ultimately interested in the financial benefits of being related to him. Their treatment of Shane during his stay with them only fueled his resentment and ambition as he navigated his newfound inheritance.
Grandfather
He is Shane's paternal grandfather who kept his wealth and influence secret while Shane was in foster care. He is distant, unapproachable, and manipulative. Grandfather only reached out to Shane after discovering his unexpected inheritance through a family genealogy search. He pitted Shane against his adoptive parents by saying they were not worthy of the wealth, instilling a sense of rivalry and resentment in Shane’s life.
