I'm Bigby wolf.
I live in New York in a place called fabletown.
Most people know me as the Sheriff of fabletown.
But they know me from the story as the Big Bad Wolf.
What they don't know is that I was born a wolf in my homeland but I'm in human form here in the magical land.
I'm more like a reverse werewolf.
I keep it a secret so they won't be scared of me and I can do my job as Sheriff better.
Today I got a mission to save a dragon Hunters' prey.
The prey is a little dragon hatchling.
It's so cute and innocent I decided to adopt it as my own daughter.
It's a girl and I named her Rose Red Wolf.
She doesn't know she's a dragon yet, she thinks she's human like everybody else in fabletown.
She grew up with all the kids of other fables but she has her wild side.
She loves to climb trees and play with animals.
She loves me so much and I love her even more.
I would do anything to keep her safe even if it means keeping her trapped because I'm her father and I know what's best for her.
I have a woman in my life, Snow White is the Deputy Mayor of fabletown.
She's kind, smart, strong, and beautiful.
We clicked right away when we first met years ago but we never took our relationship to the next level.
I walked into Snow White's office in the Woodlands building.
She was buried in paperwork as usual.
The afternoon sun cast long shadows through the window.
She looked up, her dark hair falling across her shoulders, and gave me that knowing smile.
I closed the door behind me and settled into the chair across from her desk.
My hands fidgeted with my cigarette pack - an old habit when I'm nervous.
"Dragon hunters have been spotted in fabletown," I said.
"They've got a hatchling in captivity. I'm going to infiltrate their hideout tonight and get it out."
Snow's expression shifted from concern to determination.
She pulled out a map of the city and started circling possible locations where dragon hunters might operate.
"We'll do this together," she said, sealing our unspoken bond.
Snow led the way through the dimly lit back alleys of fabletown, her eyes scanning for any sign of the hunters.
I followed closely, my enhanced senses on high alert.
We passed by the bustling streets of downtown, the neon lights of bars and restaurants fading into the darkness of industrial buildings near the docks.
Snow stopped at an abandoned warehouse, its windows broken and graffiti covering the walls.
She pointed to the dirt lot in front of the building, where fresh tire tracks marked the ground.
I sniffed the air, catching a whiff of gunpowder and something else - a faint smell of dragon scales.
We crouched behind shipping containers, watching as two armed guards made their rounds along the perimeter fence.
Snow pulled out a set of blueprints from her backpack, unfolded them on top of a nearby crate.
The detailed drawings showed a service entrance on the west side of the building, hidden from view by a stack of crates.
Snow's hands trembled slightly as she gripped the papers, but her eyes remained fixed on me, unwavering.
We waited for what felt like an eternity as the guards continued their patrol.
Finally, they passed by our hiding spot, heading back toward the front entrance.
With a silent nod to Snow, I moved swiftly toward the service entrance, ready to face whatever lay inside.
Snow followed closely behind me, her footsteps quiet on the concrete floor.
We reached the service entrance, a rusty metal door with a faded sign that read "Authorized personnel only."
I tried the handle, and to my surprise, it swung open easily.
We ducked inside, our eyes adjusting to the dim light within.
The air was thick with the smell of old machinery and dampness.
Stacks of crates and rusted equipment lined the walls, casting long shadows in the flickering fluorescent lights overhead.
The sound of dripping water echoed through the space.
Snow led the way deeper into the warehouse, her dark hair blending with the shadows around us.
We moved silently past rows of shelving units, each one filled with dusty boxes and forgotten treasures.
At the far end of the warehouse, Snow stopped in front of a false wall panel.
She pressed a hidden button, and with a soft click, the panel slid open revealing a set of metal stairs leading down into darkness.
The smell of dragon scales grew stronger as we descended into the basement chamber.
Display cases lined the walls, each one filled with gleaming dragon scales, crystalline eggs, and ancient artifacts that shimmered in the dim light.
Snow's eyes widened as she approached a glass case in the center of the room.
Inside, a scroll rested on a velvet pedestal, adorned with intricate symbols that seemed to dance in the flickering light. She gasped softly as she reached out to touch the case, her fingers hovering just inches from the glass.
I stepped closer, my own gaze drawn to the scroll's beauty and mystery.
Suddenly, Snow's head snapped up, her eyes locked on something behind me.
I turned to see a set of tiny claw marks etched into the floor, leading toward a reinforced door at the far end of the chamber.
Without a word, Snow darted toward the door, her hand reaching for its rusted handle.
I caught up to her just as she pulled it open, revealing a narrow corridor beyond.
The air was stale and musty here, heavy with an odd scent - something ancient and mystical that I couldn't quite place.
"Where does this lead?"
Snow whispered, her voice barely audible over her racing heart.
I sniffed the air again, my senses on high alert.
The smell of dragon scales grew stronger here, mingling with something else - something wild and untamed. "Down," I said softly, my eyes fixed on the corridor ahead.
"To whatever lair they're hiding in."
