Jessica

known for her bold and somewhat reckless nature, she was unaware of the committed relationship her hookup was in, tall with striking blonde hair and piercing green eyes, confident and unapologetic about her actions, prefers short-term excitement over long-term commitment.

I was walking alone in the evening.
I was utterly inebriated and steeped in despair.
My boyfriend had cheated on me.
The proof was right in my hand.
My best friend, Lily, had given it to me.
It was a photograph.
A picture of my beloved boyfriend, with his arms wrapped around a girl.
A girl who wasn’t me.
A girl who was kissing him!
I looked at it clearly.
I almost dropped my phone on the ground when I saw it.
But I didn’t.
I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of the proof of his deceit.
The girl kissing him was a blonde with striking green eyes and glowing pale skin.
She was tall, and hot in a way that made Ethan crazy.
He had once told me about her.
He told me that she wasn’t committed, and that she only believed in one-night stands.
Little did she know that her hookup was committed to someone – to me!
Ethan had lied to her, it seemed!
Or maybe he had broken up with me and forgotten to tell me!
Ha!Fat chance!
I knew Ethan better than that.
He loved me, and we were happy together.
The Betrayal
I stumbled down Cedar Street, my phone in my trembling fingers.
The streetlights blurred into hazy orbs as I tried to focus on the screen.
I had to talk to someone.
I had to talk to Lily.
Three attempts later, I finally managed to open the messaging app on my phone.
The words swam before me, but I knew what I wanted to type out.
"Need you. Now."
My thumb hovered over the send button as another car drove past, its headlights momentarily blinding me.
I leaned against a brick wall for support, the rough surface scraping my bare shoulder.
My phone buzzed – a message from Ethan.
The Betrayal
"Hey, can we talk? I know you saw the photo."
I stared at the message, my heart pounding.
"You mean the one where you're wrapped around someone else?"
I slumped against the cold brick wall, my vision blurring from tears and alcohol.
My thumb hovered over the keyboard as I tried to type out a response.
The words kept coming out wrong, autocorrect failing to fix my drunken typos.
I deleted and retyped "How could you" three times before giving up.
A couple strolled past, arm in arm, their laughter and whispers a painful reminder of what I had lost.
Finally, after several failed attempts, I managed to type out a message.
"I gave you my heart."
But I couldn’t bring myself to send it.
All those times he had told me he loved only me echoed in my head like a broken record.
My phone buzzed again, and this time it was Lily.
The Betrayal
"Are you okay? I just saw Ethan heading your way."
I wiped my tears with the back of my hand, typing back quickly, "He wants to talk, but I can't face him right now."
I pushed myself off the wall, my legs unsteady beneath me.
The streetlights blurred into hazy orbs as I stumbled forward, almost tripping over an uneven sidewalk.
My phone buzzed again – another text from Ethan.
I ignored it, focusing on putting one foot in front of the other.
A car slowed beside me, and I recognized the blue Honda as Ethan’s.
The Betrayal
He rolled down the window, calling out my name.
I picked up my pace, but he pulled ahead and parked, blocking my path.
