My name is Emily Carter, and I'm ten years old.
I was born in the wonderful city of Portland, Oregon.
Portland is a big city with over 600,000 people living here.
It's not too big, like New York City or Los Angeles, but it still has all the big city amenities.
I love Portland.
I love Portland because it's so beautiful here.
We have mountains to the east and west, and a river running through the middle of the city.
The only bad thing about Portland is that it rains a lot.
It's not all bad though, because it makes everything green, and it helps Portland stay cool in the summer.
My family and I live in a house in a suburb of Portland called Beaverton.
Beaverton is about twenty miles west of Portland, and it's where a lot of Portland's suburbs are located.
Beaverton is a very nice place to live.
It has a few small shopping centers, some restaurants, and a few schools.
That's where I go to school.
"Emily, did you hear about the old house on Maple Street?" asked Jake, her curious neighbor.
"Yeah, my mom says it's haunted," Emily replied, her eyes wide with excitement.
"Well, I saw someone moving in yesterday, and they looked just like the ghost from the stories," Jake whispered conspiratorially.
