I was on vacation with my friends Tim and Jim.
We had driven all the way from our town to a new village we had never been to before.
As we were driving along, suddenly the car broke down, and we had to stop on the side of the road.
We looked around and realized that we were in the middle of nowhere, with no houses or any other cars in sight.
"Damn, what are we going to do now?"
I said, looking at my friends.
"Well, we can't just sit here," said Tim.
"We have to figure out what's wrong with the car and fix it."
"But how are we going to do that?"
I asked.
"We don't even have cell phones with us."
"We are going to have to walk until we find someone," said Jim.
As we walked along the side of the road, suddenly we saw some houses in the distance.
We walked toward them and soon found ourselves in a village.
But as we looked around, we realized that there was something very strange about this village.
"Hey guys, where are all the men?"
Tim asked, looking around.
"And where are all the cars?"
I asked.
"This is really weird," said Jim.
As we walked through the village, all we saw were women and baby boys.
The Baby Boy Prophecy
We saw a woman carrying some groceries from what looked like a small market.
She looked like she might be willing to talk to us, so we walked over to her.
She was a pretty woman with long blonde hair and a gentle smile on her face.
She was wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, and she looked like she had just come from work.
As we approached her, she noticed us and stopped what she was doing.
She shifted the paper bags she was carrying to one arm and looked at us curiously.
Her eyes darted back and forth between the three of us, but they lingered on me for a moment longer because I was the closest to her.
The only sounds were the chatter of women and the crying of babies in the background as we stood there staring at each other.
I cleared my throat to break the silence.
"Where have all the men gone?" I asked, hoping for an answer that would make sense of this unsettling place.
The Baby Boy Prophecy
The blonde woman looked at me with a smile.
"My name is Sofia, and I am the Mayor's assistant. As for your question, it is not something that we talk about with outsiders," she said, her voice calm and collected.
"Come with me."
She led us through the winding cobblestone streets of the village.
As we walked, women stopped what they were doing to watch us pass.
Some whispered behind their hands, while others clutched their baby boys closer to their chests.
Tim nudged me in the ribs.
"I feel like a circus attraction," he joked nervously.
"Shut up," Jim hissed at him.
Sofia led us through the quiet streets, her confident stride taking us past quaint storefronts and gardens filled with vibrant flowers.
The Baby Boy Prophecy
Her grocery bags swayed in her arms as she walked, and I couldn't help but notice the way her hips moved with each step.
As we turned a corner, a large building came into view.
It was starkly modern compared to the rest of the village, with sleek glass windows and a metal façade that glinted in the sunlight.
A sign above the door read "Community Center."
Sofia stopped at the entrance and swiped a keycard through a reader on the wall.
The Baby Boy Prophecy
The door clicked open, and she gestured for us to enter.
Inside, the truth awaited us like a silent storm.
The community center's fluorescent lights flickered overhead, casting an artificial glow over the sterile white corridors.
Our footsteps echoed off the linoleum floor as Sofia led us deeper into the building.
We passed by rows of doors, each one closed and unmarked.
Sofia swiped her keycard at another door, and it swung open with a soft creak.
As we stepped inside, I felt a chill run down my spine.
The room was small, with six women standing in a semicircle.
They were all dressed in business attire, their faces stern and unwelcoming.
Tim bumped into me from behind as I came to an abrupt stop.
"Whoa," he whispered, his voice barely audible over the sound of my own heartbeat.
"What's going on?"
The Baby Boy Prophecy
Jim asked, his voice laced with nervousness.
"Is this some kind of joke?"
The women didn't move or speak as we entered.
Their arms were crossed tightly over their chests, and their eyes narrowed as they looked us up and down. The air in the room felt thick and heavy, making it difficult to breathe.
I glanced around, searching for any sign of what was happening or why we had been brought here.
But there was nothing - no clues, no hints, no answers.
Just the cold, calculating stares of these six women.
Sofia stepped aside, leaving us exposed to their scrutiny.
The tallest woman, who wore a navy blazer with a gold pin on her lapel, took a step forward.
She had piercing green eyes that seemed to bore into my very soul as she spoke.
The Baby Boy Prophecy
"Welcome to our village," she said, her voice cold and detached.
"I am the Mayor."
She paused for a moment before continuing.
The Mayor's green eyes lock onto mine as she circles our small group slowly.
Her heels click against the tile floor with each deliberate step.
Tim shifts uncomfortably beside me, while Jim stands frozen in place.
The Mayor stops directly in front of me, close enough that I can smell her expensive perfume.
"Your arrival presents us with a unique opportunity," she states, glancing briefly at her colleagues.
The other women nod in unison, their expressions unreadable.
Sofia moves to stand beside the Mayor, avoiding eye contact with me.
"We have a proposition for you," the Mayor continues, her voice unwavering.
Tim raises an eyebrow, glancing at me before asking, "What kind of proposition?"
The Mayor smiles faintly, a hint of something dangerous in her eyes. "To help us find the men."
The Baby Boy Prophecy
The Mayor leads us down a stark white hallway, the only sound the echo of our footsteps.
The fluorescent lights overhead cast an artificial glow over everything.
She stops at a door and swipes her keycard, gesturing for us to enter.
The room is small, with a single table and chairs.
The Mayor motions for us to sit, and we comply.
She takes a seat across from us, her expression unreadable.
"We have been searching for men for some time now," she begins, her voice measured.
"Our village has been without them for many years."
Tim leans forward, curiosity evident in his eyes.
"Why?"
The Baby Boy Prophecy
The Mayor's gaze doesn't waver.
"Because we need them."
Jim frowns, confusion etched on his face.
"For what?"
The Mayor's smile grows wider, revealing perfectly straight teeth.
"To help us fulfill our purpose."
I shift uncomfortably in my seat, feeling a growing sense of unease.
"What purpose?"
I ask, my voice barely above a whisper.
The Mayor's eyes lock onto mine once more. "To carry on our legacy," she replies, her voice filled with conviction.
"And to ensure the survival of our village."
I swallow hard, trying to process her words.
But before I can respond, Tim interrupts.
"What do you need from us?"
The Mayor's gaze shifts to him, a hint of excitement in her eyes.
"We need your help to find more men," she explains.
"And in return, we will provide you with everything you need."
Tim's eyebrows shoot up in surprise.
"Everything?"
The Mayor nods, her smile growing wider still.
"Yes. Everything."
As the Mayor continues to speak, I feel my bladder starting to protest after our long walk through the village and the community center.
I try to hold it in but finally excuse myself from the room to find a restroom. The Mayor nods understandingly and points down the hall towards the nearest bathroom.
Sofia stands up and offers to accompany me, but I assure her that I can find it on my own.
With a polite smile, she returns to her seat beside the Mayor as I make my way out into the hallway once again. The corridors are eerily quiet as I follow the signs leading me towards the bathroom.
The Baby Boy Prophecy
As I round the corner, I hear hushed voices coming from a slightly ajar door.
Curiosity gets the better of me, and I pause to listen.
"Do you think they'll agree?" a voice whispers, tinged with anxiety.
