MidReal Story

The Avatar's Journey Through Mars

Scenario:Aang and his friends take a portal to a strange world (Mars) which is in Universe-1218 (Real Life), the portal materializing strange suits (spacesuits) around their bodies. Being fantasy characters, they obviously have no concept of inhospitable alien worlds, the scientific components that makes the environment what it is, just how deadly the environment is, or space technology. The environment also does strange things to their bending abilities. Earthbending is normal but the air is so thin that airbending is a joke, there's hardly any water to bend, and firebending is impossible.

I stepped through the portal with Katara, Sokka, and Toph by my side.
The portal began to glow very brightly before it started to fade away.
As I looked around I realized that we were not in a city or town or even near any of those things.
We were in the middle of a huge field filled with rocks and dust.
The ground was a reddish color and the rocks were all sizes from as small as a rock as I could pick up in my hand to as big as a house.
"Where are we?"
Toph asked looking around.
She was right, where were we?
We had traveled through a portal but the portal didn't bring us to another country or town.
It seemed to have brought us to another world.
As I looked up towards the sky I noticed that it was also reddish but more towards a orange color.
The air also felt different, it was thin and cold.
As the portal faded away completely it began to materialize objects that would surround our bodies for a few seconds before settling into place.
The objects were strange and attached itself to our skin, covering every bit of it on our body except our eyes which allowed us to see.

I watched as Toph took a firm stance, her feet planted wide on the rust-colored ground.
The strange suit made her movements stiffer than usual but she still kept her balance.
She raised her heel and brought it down hard against the surface.
The impact was muffled by the thin air, but I could feel subtle vibrations through my boots.
Small rocks and red dust rose around her feet, hovering for a few seconds before settling back down.

Toph nodded to herself, satisfied that her earthbending still worked in this strange place.
She shifted her weight slightly and stomped again, this time with more force.
The ground rippled beneath our feet, sending a wave of movement through the rocky terrain.
Toph continued experimenting with her earthbending, moving rocks of various sizes across the dusty ground.
Katara, meanwhile, tried bending the little moisture she could find in the air.
She managed to create a few tiny ice crystals that floated in the air before evaporating instantly.
Sokka examined our suits, poking and prodding at the strange material.
"It's so stiff," he muttered, "I can't move my arms properly."
The vast emptiness of this red world made me uneasy.
I decided to try using my airbending to create a small scooter to carry us around.
I focused my energy and began to manipulate the thin air around me, creating a small whirlwind that lifted me an inch off the ground.
The scooter was weak and unsteady, but it would have to do.
"Let's go," I said, pointing towards a cluster of large boulders in the distance.

Sokka squinted at the boulders, his eyes narrowing with suspicion.
"Do you think there's something behind those rocks?" he asked, his voice tinged with curiosity and caution.
Katara nodded, her gaze fixed on the distant shapes. "I can feel a faint pull of water from that direction; there might be something—or someone—waiting for us."
