I don't know how I got here or who brought me here.
All I know is that I met a man who said he was my boyfriend, but I still can't remember him at all.
He comes to see me every day and sticks with me till night.
He says he loves me very much, but every time he says that, I just feel uneasy.
I want to know the truth.
I want to know if there's a conspiracy I don't know.
A man stood in front of me in the hospital hallway.
He was waiting for the doctor to come out and give him news of my condition.
His eyes were filled with worry.
Suddenly, the doctor came out and told the man some good news.
I was awake after the accident; I just had a little amnesia.
The man smiled immediately after hearing the news and hugged the doctor tightly.
I sat up in my hospital bed and looked at the man standing in the doorway.
He came in with fresh flowers every day.
Today, I would test him.
The man walked in with a smile on his face, holding a bouquet of roses.
"Good morning, Ava. How are you feeling today?"
"Good morning. I'm fine."
The man came over to my bedside and leaned down to kiss me on the forehead.
I grasped his hand as he pulled away.
"Can you tell me anything? Do you remember anything?"
The man's eyes lit up with hope.
"No... but I do remember something."
"What is it?"
I smiled and told him about the date we went on.
It was a beach restaurant with white sand and blue water, and we watched the sunset together.
We had our dinner by the window and watched the stars at night.
The man's smile faltered for a second before he grinned again.
"That sounds amazing! You're right; we did go to a beach restaurant. It was very romantic. We watched the sunset together, and I showed you how beautiful the sky was when it was painted pink. We sat at a table by the window, and after dinner, we walked on the beach under the stars."
His hands were shaking a little as he arranged the flowers in the vase.
I watched his face carefully.
I could see the fear in his eyes.
He was trying to hide something, but I didn't know what.
I decided to press him a little bit.
"Can you show me some photos of us at the beach?"
The man's smile faltered again, and he fumbled with his phone before handing it to me.
"I'm sorry. Most of our photos were lost when my old phone broke. But I still have a few."
He scrolled through his gallery and stopped on a photo of the sunset.
It was a very beautiful photo, but there were no people in it.
I looked up at him curiously, and he smiled nervously.
"We were too busy enjoying the moment to take selfies."
He showed me a few more photos of sunsets, but none of them had people in them.
I looked up at him again, and he smiled sheepishly.
"We were too caught up in the moment to take pictures of ourselves."
His right leg bounced under the hospital bed tray as he sat in the chair beside me. A nurse came into my room to check my vitals and interrupted us.
The man stood up and put his phone back in his pocket.
"I'll bring a photo album for you tomorrow."
The nurse finished checking my vitals and left the room with a smile on her face.
The man leaned down to kiss me on the forehead again before leaving my room.
The man sat back down in his chair and watched me carefully.
His eyes darted around the room, and he fumbled with the flowers in the vase.
He dropped them twice before setting them on the table beside my bed.
"Is there anything else you remember?"
I shook my head.
"No."
The man smiled and stood up to leave.
"I'll see you tomorrow. Get some rest."
I watched him walk out of my room, then I picked up the phone he left on my bedside table and scrolled through his gallery.
There were a lot of photos of me, but none of them had him in them.
I was confused.
Why would he have so many photos of me if we were dating?
I didn't understand.
The next day, the man came to visit me again with fresh flowers.
He walked into my room and smiled at me.
"Good morning, Ava. How are you feeling today?"
"Good morning. I'm fine."
The man came over to my bedside and leaned down to kiss me on the forehead.
He sat down in his chair and looked at me nervously.
"Can you tell me anything? Do you remember anything?"
"No... but I'm still waiting for that photo album you promised me yesterday."
The man's smile faltered for a second before he grinned again.
"Oh, right. I'm sorry. I couldn't find it." His hands were shaking as he adjusted his jacket.
He looked nervous, and I could tell he was hiding something from me.
Suddenly, Lily walked into the room, and the man's demeanor changed immediately.
He stood up straighter and avoided looking at her.
Lily walked over to my bedside and smiled at me.
"How are you feeling today?"
"I'm fine."
Lily looked over at the man standing beside her, but he refused to meet her gaze.
She clenched her fists tightly at her sides, and her eyes narrowed as she looked at him angrily.
The man's leg bounced rapidly as he stood beside her, and his hands were shaking even more now.
