I took a deep breath and pushed through the airlock into the alien ship.

The corridor beyond was dimly lit, with strange symbols etched into the walls in a language I couldn’t read.

I shone my suit light down the passage, but it only illuminated so much.

"Kael, I think we should—"

Astra’s voice crackled over the comms system.

"I’m going in."

I started down the corridor, my boots echoing off the metal walls.

"Be careful," she called.

"You don’t know what you’re walking into."

"I can’t walk away."

I turned a corner and kept going.

The hum of machinery grew louder, and I followed the sound until I reached a large door.

It slid open when I approached, revealing a room filled with strange equipment.

None of it looked hostile, and I breathed out slowly as I relaxed.

"Kael?"

Astra’s voice came over the comms again.

"I’m inside. It’s okay."

"Are you sure?"

Zara’s twin sister sounded nervous.

"I’m not seeing anything that worries me yet. And look…"

I reached up and touched my helmet’s faceplate.

It lit up with data as Astra analyzed what I was seeing.

"This is amazing! The tech is slightly more advanced than ours, but nothing we can’t understand or reproduce."

"Let me see."
